1/48 Scale Monogram Buck Rogers Marauder Details

Recently I got a good deal on a vintage Marauder model and I am going to have it professionally assembled and painted.

Since it will cost a bit to have this done I want to make sure that the finished product is faithful to what I remember seeing from the show.

I'm not real savvy when it comes to models and I don't really care if the gun is a little too long or if the wing is too thick, it's the overall impression that I look for.

When I look at the model I say "Does it look like what was in the show or movie".

To me the most effect way to recreate that feeling is way it's painted and weathered.

Now, having explained that I have a few observations and questions about this particular kit.

1. I already plan to replace the wingtip pods with the more detailed pods from Federation Models.

2. I have no plans to add a cockpit or landing gear.

3. Are the yellow details on this model accurate

4. Why do some people paint part of the cockpit window and what are the 6 "strakes" on the foward part of the wings, custom, resin mod kit, etc?:

5: Are there any other really obvious details I should consider

So is the above picture a good represention of what it looked like?

The cockpit ont the kit doesn't match the filming miniature. That's why it's been painted.
