1/350 U.S.S. Defiant

While I wait for someone to finish up the LCARS panels for the Runabout I started on the next project; a 1/350 Defiant. I have gotten the shape down right and am just working on the details now. Took quite a bit effort as the Defiant is quite a complex set of shapes!
I hope to get this one out as a kit eventually.

I hope you like my start on this one and I’m hoping to do a, Voyager, Vor’Cha and Galor in the same scale after.

impressive, (y) i'll be following this, a defiant in 1/350, im a guessing a huge amount of 3dprinting, is it going to be fdm or sla,

im just starting my 1:700 enterprise which is requiring a lot of printing, :)

I have been mostly working on the details, but I did rework the nacelles to have a more accurate shape.
I think I may rework the deflector section a bit but otherwise the shape is pretty locked in now.

I’d love to get some feedback on what you guys think.

I think you pretty much have the shapes nailed, Sophie! :) My only concern is that I recall the Defiant having more panel lines, but maybe I'm a bit premature on that and you haven't gotten to those yet?

Regardless, I do think you're very much on the right track here! :D
Thank you! I’m not 100% on the nose section yet, might tweak it a bit.

Ah yes, I haven’t gotten around to those yet. They’re usually the last bit I do.

I’m already planning the next 1/350 project and I’m thinking it might be the Akira Class

I rebuilt the nose section and got the complex pattern of the deflector dish down. I also started on the pulse phasers. I think she's looking better and the details are slowly coming together!

Not long now till I can do a prototype.

Details look great.

What program do you use to design? The Argo build that I am doing now was completely done at Tinkercad, it is easy but often a bit clunky, size limits and all. I have Meshmixer and MeshLab installed, and I do use the one or the other on very seldom occasions where Tinkercad is being cranky or to clean up/size down renders. Seeing your work makes me really think it is time to pick up the hammer again and try to master a better tool.

Really looking forward to seeing your build evolve! :)

Thank you! I mostly use Fusion360, but i do want to learn some Blender too. Nice! The Argo is cool! I've not used Tinkercad much, but I've seen some great stuff can be made in it. I think it's what Bill Krause (Admiralbuck) uses.
I'd love to see what you've done on the Argo so far!

Yes, Tinkercad is based on Fusion360 if I remember correctly, kind of the online/entry level to get beginners interested. You can do a lot of the same things as in the professional programs, but sometimes you have to be very inventive to reach the same results. If you are proficient in Fusion, I doubt there is any need for you to open up Tinkercad.

I tried Blender, my thought at the time was that it is so insanely versital you can do all kinds of skins far beyond stl print files and is probably one of the best tools out there for rendering and free on top. Unfortunately, it is also insanely complex and if you do not know what you are doing, the learning curve is close to impossible. I respectfully gave up a short time later. :)

Regarding my Argo build, sure I would love to hear your comments. I am doing the WIP here:
