1/350 TOS E is happening.

the problem mr small is having is due to OVER sanding. knowing when to stop is the key. really guys, it's not that big of a deal, unless your a first timer, which if your on this site and buying the pl 1/350 kit most likely your not, this should be old hat for most of you, so im not sure what the deal is here, i dont like the lines, but it's not that big a deal to get rid of em :)

Personally I think most are not complaining they can't remove or have a hard time removing the grid lines. I think most just don't like all the unnecessary extra work having to remove them in the first place. Theres already plenty of work to do on this model without having to completely sand the entire saucer sections....that is for those who want the lines removed. Theres also the extra risk for the less skilled to mess something up........and I predict that someone on this forum eventually will no doubt post wanting help correcting something they screwed up while trying to remove the lines.
I would also suggest that if your not as skilled as some of the really great model building talents on this forum ....before attempting to remove the lines......that you sit back and watch awhile some of the build threads that will no doubt pop up before attempting to try.

I'm leaning towards KEEPING THEM (gasp)

That's why you buy extras... you gotta build at least one :love

I have an MR Enterprise and its pretty sweet. But a really good friend of mine does not but I could see the lust in his eyes... He and his wife are HUGE Star Trek Fans - so I got the pre-order for my stash, then I bought another regular with all the trimmings to build for him.

I'm with MoffEaton, I'm keeping the lines. I realize I may get exiled to a far away place by stating this, but I am of the opinion that this is a model of the actual ship not a model of a model, and if there are gridlines on the actual saucer then I want them on my scale model. Accuracy in the case of SF ships is objective any way. Really, it's all in the person's interpretation of the subject, and every one is different. Build it how you wish and make it yours, don't let others opinions chane the way you want it to be.

Would a realistic model really have lines that can be seen. When a person takes into account the distance scale of the model it would seem the actual size of the grid lines would be large enough for a person to walk in. If the grid lines represent the edges of plates that are put together, then from the distance a 350 model would be, the most one could determine would be barely a fine crack, barely visible, if at all.

It would really depend on the type of technology used when the ship was built.

If you preordered photoetch from paragraphix you may want to check your paypal account. The invoice was there when i logged in this morning but i didn't get an email for it. Looks like it is ready to ship.

I am probably going to build multiples of the damn thing. I need one Production Version for work and then one for home, a 1st pilot, a Second pilot, a Tug, etc. So the grid line one will be my first build. You know, the one where you knock the cobwebs off your Trek building brain, and put the styrene and light kit through it's paces. A practice run!

(sobs into hands) oh god I need help

It was a link to his site.

Premiere Edition kits have started shipping this week!

And to coincide with that, the photoetch set started shipping today. All wholesale and a passel of preorders went out today, the rest of the preorders will go out as payments are received.
