Re: 1:3 stormtrooper sculpt wip trooper armour advice needed

You need to slim the arms by a great deal. The armor was made for very slender people. The length and proportions seem right, but the thickness of the upper and lower arms are way too much. You don't want arms that are bigger than the legs. Make things slimmer, but not as slim as the Kaiyodo sculpt, as those are basically as thin as regular human arms without armor and the Gentle Giant versions seems just a tad bit too thick... so somewhere in-between.

Always think slender when sculpting this piece.

I would pull up the tip of the right lower arm to just above horizontal level, or maybe, just below, depending on how you want him to hold the barrel of the blaster.
And then turn the tip of the left arm about 10 degrees in towards the right, if that's possible. I would also pull it up about ½ a centimeter at the elbow, as it's sitting a bit too low.

The shoulder bells still need a tad more tweeking. The left bottom seems to be straight when it should more of a curve up. can you maybe take a side pic. of the sculpt?

Its strange how you get used to it i dont see him as big anymore :) all reference pics are helpful especially if it can show similar poses next to my sculpt so i can see were i am going wrong ?
cheers

Re: 1:3 stormtrooper sculpt wip trooper armour advice needed

I would honestly say that you should stay away from fan made reference as much as possible and especially RotJ reference. Keep to ANH, as that's what you are making. You can check out parts of the ESB as well as they are re-used ANH... but keep to the movie reference and real suits as much as possible.

Re: 1:3 stormtrooper sculpt wip trooper armour advice needed

there seem so many variations on whichever version you look at the pose also determines the shape some appear smooth bells some seem to curl round the arm?

From what I've seen the RotJ is way more pinched than ANH/ESB

Re: 1:3 stormtrooper sculpt wip trooper armour advice needed

Oh I agree that the ROTJ is more pinched but it will still give Rob a good reference point in regards to the overall shape
