1:3 stormtrooper sculpt FINISHED see page 10 !

Re: 1:3 stormtrooper sculpt wip trooper armour advice needed

Will this never end :( thanks mate that helps a lot will have a crack at that !

I see what you need and it isn't much.

Sand down the rear back plate and part of the butt plate, to give it a more natural and sleek appearance. Also, thicken up the neck a bit and angle it forwards. That will also require the helmet to be moved slightly forward and also pulled up a bit in the rear and down in front, like you see in the movie - the famous tilt-head-down-cool-look.

Hey... you've reached the refining stage. And as someone mentioned in another thread... the last 10% takes as long as getting the initial 90% of a piece done. The last 10% is what takes things above just the general attempt. You are imo at 95% right now.

Re: 1:3 stormtrooper sculpt wip trooper armour advice needed

he actually looks slightly slimmer than the real one?

That's not a real one - it's a friend of mine from the Italian Garrison (501st) in his TM armour. Just thought I'd mention it...

Re: 1:3 stormtrooper sculpt wip trooper armour advice needed

Hey its not blastermaniac is it? not seen him for a long time.

Its was more the pose i was after :) demonstrating but its a fairly accurate set of armour in my not very expert opinion i can remove image if its a problem?

Re: 1:3 stormtrooper sculpt wip trooper armour advice needed

It certainly removes that tubby look, but I'd still say slimmer, but I will leave that up to people who know more about Stormtrooper armor and how it should actually sit. But definitely look at as many side pictures of the originals as you can find, to check out that rear armor. Of course... the arms are often in the way...

EDIT: looking at it again, it seems to follow the lines I drew in the previous picture, so maybe you got it down. Wait for more input from others, as it would be a shame to remove too much.

When you are close to finishing, you should work on the shoes and make his stance more vertical, as he's leaning a bit forward now and it doesn't look very militaristic and strong. Just a very slight tilt back, but NOT by much.

In fact, you have inspired me to work faster on what I'm doing...

Re: 1:3 stormtrooper sculpt

I haven't had enough time this morning to check it but I always believed some of the pics of troopers holding their gun in their left hand were negatives that had been reversed. All the troopers I have seen are all right handed?? Should we check this out!!!!???? It happens alot in some movie frames, they will reverse the image. I believe he should be holding his gun with his right hand....??

Any thoughts guys..???

Not possible because the abdominal details (as well as the back details) are not reversed.

Re: 1:3 stormtrooper sculpt

just had a quick look at the movie and they are in the left hand phew :)
I have finished the sculpt now i could go on forever making changes but i need to stop as i have other things going on soon so i am now cleaning him up to get a good finish and once done i will be posting an interest thread in the junkyard and if theres enough interest i will do a small run of them :)
Thankyou all for your input on this project you have all made all the difference to the end result i could not have done it without you all!
Cheers
Rob

Your right, and the knee details are on the correct sides also! I wonder why they had them hold them with their left hands as I would imagine most were right hand shooters..??

Sculpt looks great!!! I want one with a helmet also depending on price!!!!

Re: 1:3 stormtrooper sculpt

Well my 2 foot stormtrooper is finally finished thanks to all your help and advice ! I will not be making any further changes to this sculpt however when the time comes to do the Sandtrooper i will do whats needed.
I need to know if its worth my while doing an interest thread in the Junkyard as it is a major pain in the butt doing small runs. Also would people want the base as it would knock the price up around $10 ish

Re: 1:3 stormtrooper sculpt

Looks great, I would not want the base but i could not order one of these at the moment anyway with the EFX vader & tie still to be paid for. Depending on price tho i would love to have one down the line so keep on to your molds etc.

Re: 1:3 stormtrooper sculpt

I Amaze myself sometime lol it came out ok the paint job is pretty naff but i am very pleased with the results hes never going to be 100% accurate but he looks the part.
Should i start an interest thread? The caster is good to go price needs to be hashed out once the figure reaches the caster i hope to keep it below $200 but i cannot say for sure.

And you said you weren't very good at sculpting.
