1/24 scale Ralph McQuarrie concept X-Wing scratchbuild

Richard,
It's funny I was hoping the control panels would be clear. Was actually wondering if the rear exhaust panel would be clearish to glow red where the grill is. I've never seen a hint of red in the grill, just thinkin. :lol The engine decals in the top left are fantastic. :thumbsup Thanks for all of the extra details :)

Are you going to give the orange and grey stripes to the sheet as well? I know they could be paintedd, but the have detail to them that would be tricky to reproduce.

I think the orange stripes need to be painted to keep it's visual scale. Maybe Richard will cut a mask.

oo - here's another random question - remember those metal armatures people used for their v3's? How big is this concept model, do you think the armature would fit inside? wanna try? :love

I just realized this thing is studio scale, stupid me for not looking at what section it was in. That being said, I probably can't afford this :(

Here's the revised, complete kit. I made some changes after I did the test build.

It now includes pre-scored styrene engine intake details, rear mounting plates for the engines, front detail for the engines, vinyl cockpit masks, choice of clear or regular resin cockpit, and decals.

Thanks

Hey Rich,

You were sorely missed at WF
I can only imagine the overwhelming response; had this beauty been sitting on the display table in the dealer's room.

I'll be watching my mail-box intently o'er the next few days..can't wait.
Hope maybe to see you at WF next year

..so what's taking so long with that Ralph McQuarrie Y-wing?
...not goin' to let a little thing like a tornado get in your way??!!

;)

Trust me I tried super hard to get there, but between mother nature and flat running out of time it wasn't to happen.

Yes, this will be my next model from his paintings. ( I've already sculpted out the nose, lol) This is like super retro, I love it! 24 scale of course.

Y-Wing coming too? Wow thats great!

Richard, any info about logistics? I mean about payments shippint estimates etc.

I was just kiddin' on the Y-wing... as I've know you've beeen having more than your share of bad-luck with Mother nature...

I can't believe you've already started this puppy

Woo Hoo!

Well I haven't officially started, I just carved out a nose really quick in rigid foam to give me an idea of it's size. It's pretty huge.

Oooo Y-Wing, looks like I'm going to start saving up!

And awesome on the cockpit - lights ahoy!
