1/24 scale Ralph McQuarrie concept X-Wing scratchbuild

Man, this is a nice-looking model...God knows I don't need another project as I have a Salzo V3, an Anigrand Star Destroyer and a Polar Lights Enterprise to do...but I'm not sure I can resist getting one of these.

Thanks everyone. I was worried about molding the cockpit because of all the detail, but it turned out ok.

Dude,

Your taste in "greeblage" is most excellent!
The chioces you made in the cockpit especially bares this out.

I've seen many attemps as assembling "nurnies" and "greebles" with theresult of unconvincing details that just look "busy" and like so much junk.

This is especially easy [to "screw-up"] on a subject like this; that is a fairly lean an sleek design.... but you, have made wise and aesthetically pleasing choices through out!
An even more impressive feat, as you did this all "Old-School" with "found" items for your detailing...very resourcefull.

" I see you've constructeed you own light saber....MOST IMPRESSIVE! -D.V.

...and all this in the space of 2 weeks
-Whoo hoo! :confused:eek:cool

Wow, that's beautiful REL. So sleek and purposeful and such a clean master and build. :eek :eek :thumbsup

Will be really fascinating to see it painted both ways... sleek and clean like the paintings, or weathered and beat up with the same colors as the ones used in the film... these will be some great builds to admire!

I'm not sure how you could make it any better, except to build it full scale on my patio, but I look forward to next week.

That really captures the detail of McQuarrie's design. I can't wait to see it painted up to really see the detail.

PM sent.
