1:200 scale Klingon Battle Cruiser

My second scratch build project is a K'tinga class Klingon Battle Cruiser from Star Trek the Motion Picture.

The ship is 214m long, so at 1:200 scale the model is just over a meter.

I'm using balsa wood, which will be plastered with epoxy putty and sanded down.

The basic shape for the main hull is almost complete. It's pretty big - these pics show it sitting on my office chair.

Nice start. Recently I built the AMT/ERTL Klingon Cruiser and I was surprised to find out how much reinforcement is required in the neck area, particularly to support the club shaped forward hull. I hope you take measures to support it on you model. Looking forward to see more of your progress.

TazMan2000 - thanks! Yup :) the neck is reinforced with a 10mm hardwood dowel through the length.

So here's where I am so far - the main hull has been cladded with balsa and I've started the process of plastering it with putty.
