No, this is an actual 1:1 scale model, made from 5,000,000+ bricks and 17,000 hours work time. It's being displayed in Times Square NYC soon/at the moment.

A lot of technical ingenuity went into this, but if I was planning on building a lego x-wing full size....I would probably try to make it more screen accurate rather than just take the small lego kit and make it larger.

I'd have to agree with you on that, but making a scaled up version of their own set is better for Lego's image. Plus who doesn't like the idea of having a set you can buy for £50 scaled up to be 1:1?
