1:1 Millennium Falcon Cockpit Replica - Group Build

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

They're a bit like the rockers on Vader's organ, like for when he joined that prog-rock band 'NOoo' between ANH and ESB to pay for his new model army.

Oh yea! That's a great 3D greeb, can't wait to see that in place. Very nicely done guys!!

Yep, it's a part from a Rolls Royce Derwent engine. They also show up outside the cantina near the door, also on that big scrap engine next to the cantina, and outside the Lars Homestead Igloo. And also the turbo lasers on the deathstar. I think there might even be one or two more places they show up. The art department seems to have found an inexhaustible sypply of them...

Those sets were probably not dressed at the same time, so it's probably the same few engines over and over.

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

You have a point there. They might have only needed one or two of the engines (which have a bunch of the items each) and then recycled between Tunisia and Elstree.

Off to work!

The sliding switches behind Chewies console look a lot diiferent from each other in the two photos.

Then again, maybe not. Hard to tell.

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

They look the same to me. Same shape a position as well.

I think only one is missing in the first picture, the last one on the first pannel, (or the first one on the second pannel in the picture below)

Yea, these are not my pics but I've had one of these Bontempi HF201 keyboards for about 20 years. The whole rocker at its maximum length is 52mm by 20mm wide by 15mm deep, the top two faces are 22mm long with a gap in the middle at 2mm.

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Hi Gang,

I've been chatting with Starkiller and with all the 3D printing we're doing I might go ahead and rebuild the upper and lower console panels to accept the new printed greeblies. This will also give me an opportunity to address the way the panels fit together and look at and improve upon overal fit and finish.

Although this might appear to be a step backward, I was NEVER happy with the plywood I used for the panels and the way the edges married together. And with several new specific greeblies being added, I think a redesign/rebuild would only make the console jump!

Stay Tuned for 3D Printed Greeblie Updates (and others of course)! :)

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Good find! I just ordered 400. That saved me a lot of cutting. :cool

DJ,

Fantastic! Let me know how they turn out! Also, see how opaque they are and whether they can be backlit! :) I'm checking to see if they have any in white.

They needed at least 4 for the quad... ;) I'm sure they were used / reused for several props / scenes.

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Would the transparent ones work?
Overhead 1" Square Color Tiles - Set of 48 | EAI Education

Hi Smoothrat,

Thanks for looking! The transparent tiles wouldn't work very well because they wouldn't be visible when the back light is turned off. TAP Plastics has exactly what I'm looking for but they want 400-600 dollars just for the cockpit tiles. The search continues... :)

Amazing job so far! Cant wait to see how this comes out!!!

Hi PropElite,

Thanks! You and me both! Stay tuned for lots of good stuff!!!!

Hi Gang,

I was hoping to have a full weekend of work but it's raining today. Not sure when it's going to break but tomorrow (Sun) should be fine. Starkiller and I are working behind the scenes to have some awesome greeblies 3D printed!

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Hi Gang,

Well... Another day of rain... I spent the morning running errands, buying wood to prep for the door and new console panels. I then got the garage cleaned... JUST as I finished organizing... rain. UGH...
