Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

is there any reason not to do this?

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Nice find! Ouch on the pricetag though...

Could you just build over the support you have now? It would make the bracket seem a bit thick, but it might work. You could put some kind of simple cylinder shapes (painted tin cans?) over the PVC elbow joints.

I was comparing both images and had the same idea. I can create an overlay (minus hole) on the horizontal piece and then use larger PVC around the vertical parts. HMMMMM...

Exactly. (heh, I knew you'd have a better solution than "painted tin cans"...)

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

If you do it like this, you should replicate the gunners window and display it behind the quad. Just the window. No interior (unless your crazy, LOL).

the only problem there is that the window is 8' across. Pretty huge for just a display. So yeah, I say build the whole turret. THAT would make a great display...

DANG IT!!!! I hate you! lol Now you got me rethinking!!!!! That would be pretty cool to have the round window behind the quad... I have to admit that. And yes... I have a full scale cockpit in my garage... I think that qualifies as crazy!

OK Steve... how would that look? :)

LMAO! 8 FEET!!!??? Nevermind... lol Although... a 4 foot window would still look cool???? Maybe????

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Actually... putting a fake window in the back is not a bad idea. It would allow me to add extra support to the quad to keep the front end from falling

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

A 4' window might do the trick for display purposes. what's the overall height of the laser and base in the photo?

You could also black plexiglass in the windows to justify having no interior.

I think the quad stands about 4.5 / 5 feet high. I was thinking of black plexi as well. Great minds...

I'm looking at your design and I really want to get out of here and build it! lol

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

sick-day hooky? (disclaimer: I'm not really suggesting that, gotta keep your job so you can fund this stuff... for now)

let me see what I can work up

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Another option would be to have a certain CG wizard (i'm looking at YOU Starkiller) create a nice rendering of the entire cannon interior...And have it printed as a large format banner. You could then hang it on standard pipe/drape crossbar at shows...Would look WAY cool, and easy to transport.

A full 8' x 8' size banner would only cost roughly $150 through Nick over at:

Just a thought. :)

I think a mirrored size of the base would be perfect! Everything would tie together... mostly

Here that Steve? get to work! ;)

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Sorry to ad more work man. Just thought it would be a neat idea.

Seeing as you have gone all out already, whats one more window. LOL.

I was going to say about the print out behind the glass as well. Tint
would also work if time isn't on your side.

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

What would be a really cool is one of those life size cut outs of Han or Luke inside the window looking back at us!

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Hey Jason,
the only problem with a banner of a render of my turret interior is that the interior needs a TON of work (months if not years, the damn things more complex, panel wise, than the cockpit)

a 4' window might look like this:
