1:1 Millennium Falcon Cockpit Replica - Group Build

Kinky! I mean, there's a kink in the corridor!

By the way, when will you do the 1/5 scale kit?

Hey LtW,

Kinks, kinky, kinked, its all the same and I love it! The transition angle has been really tough to design. I'm having difficulties aligning the tabs with the beams. I'm close but I'm not happy...

The 1/6th is pretty close to the 1/5th. Is there a segment of figures that are 1/5th?

With all those years of experience, you make it look all sooooo easy Greg(y)(y)(y)

Hey, J! HA! These tab angles on the corridor bend have been killing me. I've burned through two 2x4 foot sheets of 1/4" MDF trying to figure them out. ;)

greg are you planning todo just the nav chair as a kit ?

Hey S,

I am DEF planning to do just the chair. We haven't figured out a price yet but it will come with everything you've seen in both the posts and videos and will come with a small base similar to the one below

Are you interested in the 1/4 or 1/6th scale?

Congrats on the decals! They look great! What was the trick to getting the black to be the right kinda black and not that gray issue you were having?

Hey BBD,

Thanks! I'm really happy with how they turned out. What was the trick? Have a professional print shop with high end printers do the dirty work. ;)

Hi Gang,

Another HUGE apology for the lack of updates. Everything is ok... I've just been hunkered down at the shop working like mad to get this 1/6th scale cockpit kit ready for delivery. Izzy and I have been working out all the details to include updated decals. I found a few errors and had to resend those to the printers. Mostly, I have been sitting in front of the computer everyday for almost a month (I recently switched jobs and took some time off) and we are ALMOST there!

I've been doing a little bit of playing at the same time with the 1/4 scale cockpit - I need to get up from the computer every now and then! But, I don't want to bore you with all the details... Enjoy!

The 1/4 Scale Nav Computer saw a correct color change and I'm now waiting for the new decal

I'm doing a video on this particular part of the 1/4 scale build but wanted to share it with you all now! The corridor pads are coming to life!

I made slits on the backside of the insulation foam, rounded the edges over and coated with Mod Podge to keep the form - worked perfectly!

Gotta add the age and scratch marks... of course! ;)

Finally... Here's what I've been plugging away at! Stage I of the 1/6 scale cockpit kit

Stage I ends right at the door

Stage II included part of the corridor (similar to the full scale build)

The nose has been removed but you can see the similarities between this and the full scale. Also, there is now a removable lid for easy access to the wiring! More on that later

The interior is all ready to go!

This is the complete Stage I kit (minus console, seats, acrylic and 3D printed greeblies). I'm on a ladder about 12 feet up in the air.

WHEW...

Again, I did manage to work on a few other things to include starting to build a new Nav Chair for the 1/4 Scale Nav Computer. Wouldn't you know it... Here's a video of that very thing! ;)

Again... I am SO SORRY for not keeping to my regular schedule. All you guys/gals have been SO AMAZING and supportive I felt guilty falling behind. There is SO MUCH MORE to come so please stay tuned. Also, Convention Season is upon us so there is going to be a LOT of the full scale build coming up.

More to Follow!

It's a joy to see you work, Sofa! I like the trick to ensure the seat an back lined up properly!

To music was nice too, classical goes well with handiwork!
