Part II: Little Details

My adventures with the 1/4 and 1/6 scale greeblies continue

I might have to redesign this greeblie - the edges didn't align very well

New Throttle Housing and other 1/6th greeblies headed to Izzy

Upper console detail

2 main button pads for the main console

Smaller button pad

A package arrived for me in the mail... All of Izzy's 3D models to include these AWESOME and 1/4 scale Dome Panel Lights!

Lens

These are just test pieces but...

Painted the bezel silver

YES... the interior side of the lens shows the "Fresnel" effect! SO COOL!

Part III - Fiberglass and Corridor Ring

Back to the fiberglass body! I noticed a few areas of concern

Dry fiberglass - not good

I broke out some resin and covered the dry areas and filled in any other areas of concern

Cut some styrene pieces

Time to add more layers to the outer & inner surfaces of the corridor ring

And of course more filler...

Honestly... this process never seems to end!

Another area of concern is how to mount the fiberglass halves to the main body - I designed and laser cut these beams

They will essentially mount here

The idea, if it works, after adhering the beams in place I will use flat head screws and simply screw the fiberglass to the beams

I have to remove some of the reflective HVAC tape

Part IV: The Cockpit Entrance Wall

I then laser cut these other cross beams and adhere into place

I then began to remove material from the wall

Repeated the process down below

What the heck is this thing for?

Part V: The Entrance Wall Cont'd

Now that I cut holes into the entrance wall it makes sense to make something to fill those holes?

I laser cut these "hooks"

Mounted to the interior side of the maintenance panel

The hooks slip through the openings and simply "latch" to the cross beams

Temp added some beauty panels

And this...

Hi Gang...

What the heck... the internet is working, Photobucket hasn't crashed and I have time... Let's get this weekend's activities posted! Part I of VI!

Part I: The Cockpit Nose

I spent a LOT of time trying to get the floor of the nose smooth

I spent a LOT of this weekend sanding...

I reinforced the underside of the nose - its ugly but it worked!

Added some filler

Sanded the edges clean

Then to change things up I sprayed black primer - I love the look! It's so close to final

Another update!

Part II: The Fiberglass Skin

Just as I cut the upper skin I mod'd the lower fiberglass skin

I notched the sides leaving the bottom to cover the frame

I laser cut these mounting strips

And adhered to the frame for the skin to mount

Part III - on the way!

Part III: The Canopy

Work on the canopy continues - but we're getting close! Smoothed out the vertical beams

Painted the nose interior floor black and temp placed the vert beams

DEF a few gaps to fill

Love that angle!

The interior is going to be FUN!

Part IV: The 1/4 Scale Maintenance Console Greeblies

I redesigned this monitor surround with tabs for easier assembly

That's not a pencil... that's a toothpick! More little details laser cut and ready

I fabricated a new "Gauge Cluster"

Monitor panel with dry fitted parts

Part V: The Corridor Wall & Entrance

I drilled holes into the wall frame to help keep in place

More work on this guy...

Sanding NEVER ends

To help keep the walls in place I designed and laser cut a new floor with tabs cut

I added the tabs to the bottom of the frame and cut the holes in the floor

PERFECT!

Gee... a plan comes together?

And its still a circle!
