I think it was a good Holiday weekend! I was able to knock out a few more greeblies. But I did run into another issue with the laser cutter... UGH
Cut LOTS more greeblies
Daniel is notorious for secretly placing these wiggle eyes ALL over the place (tools, cabinets, etc) but the shape of them gave me an idea!
Whatever this piece is there are 3 round bulbous circles. I couldn't figure out what to use until it hit me "Hey... those wiggle eyes Daniel placed on the spray freshener are perfect!"
Still need to paint and reapply some weathering
The back side door recessed panel is all but finished
Painted the exposed sides
Time to adhere everything together
Gloss white center plate
All that's left to so is bolt the greeblies in place and mark off another as finished!
Still working ideas for this guy
I decided to treat myself to a new toy!
No more sanding these large greeblies by hand!

The new "Pull Handle" greeblies are getting close to being finished
From what I can tell there are 3 "Pull Handles" in the cockpit pit. 2 on the upper middle panel and 1 directly next to Han poking out of one of the Volvo Dash panels.
They look a little boring. I might need to add some depth with acrylic

I then jumped to the new center console armrest levers... this is where the laser cutter messed up. If you remember, when we first started cutting the the Laser Cutter or Inkscape was resizing the files... I didn't even notice it until I compared it with the older lever base

Comparo... yeah... they're a wee bit too small
They should be a little smaller than the silver lever base - but not that small!
You can now see the difference between the two holes - something happened
We've gone this far, let's put it together and see how it all fits/looks

One of the lever bases has this large black panel - almost an indicator looking thing. Let's add this and see how it looks

Chrome! But what are all these for?
Remember this guy?
Could not find ANY bolts that would match the thread pattern so I tapped the holes and now we can FINALLY mount this last greeblie into place!
Now we can add the corner greeblies
Paint is dry to the touch but still too wet to mount
Finally primed and painted the new cover plate
Clipper greeblie now in place
Still have a little bit work to do on this greeblie
Slowly getting there
Adhered the 4 greeblies around the radar scope
Still a long way off... but def forward progress!
Lastly... all of these green 1" tiles have to removed and replaced with blue. Received word from Starkiller that he made a slight boo-boo during his renderings...
He's in BIG trouble!

I'm really excited as well. All there is inside - a simple spinning LED dead center. I'm really excited to see the reflection of the other LEDs in the radar smoked acrylic cover. That's going to be my "sweet" moment! (one of several hundred)

I present for your consideration this screencap, which is pretty much the origin of my "boo-boo". Tell me those don't look green. But in fact, if you use a color picker, they're blue. It's some kind of crazy simultaneous contrast optical illusion.

Being colorblind myself, they look grey to me... that's why I rely on the color picker ALWAYS!! LOL

How much noise does it make and when to we get to see a demo of this?? Inquiring minds wanna know!
I'm not sure what Daniel and Co have in mind. I'm hoping it will be something simple. But I think the noise will come from the high pitch screams when we finally get this thing wired and back together!

Oh I hate trying to figure out what color a color is from a photo or a picture... It's one of the reasons that all those that sit there and fight about what color is the red they used on the falcon suppose to be... it's impossible to tell... there's no why you can tell... you just have to make your best guess... You may get close but let's put that too the test shall we? Here's a few example pics... try to figure out which color is lightest or darkest.
Which color is lighter... A or B? If you picked A you're wrong... if you picked B you're wrong.. they are both the same color... ok... try this one.
Which color gray is the lightest? The left? Wrong... both the same again! Ok... how about this one:
What colors are the tiles marked A, B, and C... they are all the same color... don't believe me... open it up in a graphic program use the color picker. Our eyes have difficultly telling colors apart... they fool us all the time... You can't rely on them to tell you what a color is from a photo... so it's an honest mistake and I can see where Steve had a problem... but I'm sure he learned to use his color picker from now on! LOL

Don't paint over the eyes... they look great the way they are and are a hilarious Easter Egg!
After awhile I just run out of adjectives
As always, spectacular work -I can't wait to see everything assembled. With all the additions and refinements it's going to feel like a completely different animal.

Early morning update!
Didn't do much last night. Got home and kinda crashed out. But I did add a few more greeblies and details to various panels.
I think Georges Seurat would be proud! I used a paint pen to create a series of white dots and then adhered the T shape slider knobs. The painted dots are not as big as I would have liked. I have a MUCH better idea.
GRRRR... I wasn't able to get the dots in a perfect straight line
I then added this little greeblie to the same panel - I believe this was back lit as well!
Added the dots to the Garrard trim plate - what a visual difference those simple dots make

Thanks so much! I'm really excited to see it all come together as well. The number of changes, additions, redos, etc have been never ending but I think it's going to be something special when all is said and done.
