AWESOME UPDATES!

The vertical gauge / slider panel is getting close to finished! And lots of greeblies...

Painting the new trim pieces...

These greeblie boxes are almost finished!

One more coat of black then silver!

I've started attaching greeblies to the nose panels

It's funny... out of the entire cockpit the nose panels, although complicated are really simple in design

MAN-O-MAN... two of the Volvo dash cluster were destroyed/flattened after our last show. I'm using the heat gun to see if I can't salvage them for GMX - Did I succeed? More pics later

Daniel got to work on all those greeblies he cast!

Several knobs that have been cast

Daniel preps another round of molds with aluminum powder - the results will be AWESOME!

These are still curing... a little steel wool and... stand by!

Another set of new sliders were cut. We're planning to make each slider move...

So we had to design and cut this... More Later!

Back to the vertical gauges...

Several pieces had to be recut so the gauge slipped into the panel hole

This was NOT easy... there were 4 layers of acrylic that sandwiched together. I had to be very very careful!

But the results... WOW!

Daniel is going to jump to the sliders next... Still a LONG way to go before GMX! Should be fun!

I'm always amazed by these guys craftsmanship. Such detail is awesome. Worthy of every accolade given. You guys have to be gitty to pay a homage to the original builders. Awesome!

You almost need to make a set of boxes for carrying all the delicate bits in. Especially as time goes on the less you need to take apart for transport the easier it will be.
I love that this thread is like a grand tour of every detail of the Falcon cockpit. So many bits I'd never really noticed

Jessie and I raised the nose platform

I then finished off the last of the drilling for the 1" tiles

While I was doing that, Jessie was reinstalling all the switches...

Hi Gang,

I think it's about time for an update?

All those little bolts around the sliders and the gauges had to be painted black...

This helped the bolts blend in with the rest of the panel...

From the back - screwing everything in place... UGH...

Adding the MDF panel to the bottom of the lower instrument panel required me to remove even MORE material from the console so the panels would mount.

Forgot about these levers...

We stopped work on the newer console because of warping... EWE

More greeblies getting some attention

This was one of the Volvo panels that had been completely crushed! Not perfect but it will do for now.

Every part has been hand fabricated
