Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Primer gray

Really? Doesn't that seem a little dark?

I hope you'll be ready in time for the trench run.

We'll see... with my shoulder now all messed up... Let's hope for the best!

Looking great! Will the Quad be used on the final ship, or is it for promotion as well?

Hi Y,

That I do not know... I'm not sure what Chris Lee's ultimate plan is for the quad's. Eith way, it's been great fun building. And I think once it's finished and all weathered, people will enjoy it. :)

LOL! Now that's funny!

Hi Gang,

THE COOLEST 3D print arrived today! THANK YOU STARKILLER! To save cost Starkiller had only one half of the part printed. I'm going to take several molds to create the final piece... ENJOY!!! :)

Just what the heck is this?

Hey Hey! The weekend!

Whoa! just got the notification for this post. That is awesome! I'm glad the print turned out. Hmm looks like there was some funky geometry that could use some filling-in near the tip, but otherwise it looks great.

Just for reference, folks, the part was photomatched from screencaps of the full scale quad-laser. It's nice and close to whatever the hell they used for the original part. (anyone care to guess on that score?)

Can't wait to see the molds!

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Hey All,

Wasn't the TOS Enterprise just Primer Grey? But under movie lights, It's pretty light. I don't know what color the Falcon was, but Primer Grey seems real possible.

The geometry is just a small bump in the road - a little primer/filler and she'll be nice and smooth. You did a GREAT job! Can't remember what the quote was - how much was it for the original length? I'm wondering if we should use the original length?

I've seen a lot of strange parts on Ebay and Google hoping to find matches... I have NEVER seen anything like the shape of these quad tips. Like you, I have no idea what they are... :)

Hi D,

Having seen the original studio 5' model several times - I really don't think she's primer grey. That just seems too dark. There's definately browns/tan in the final color - very light tan, maybe? The TOS Enterprise was much darker than the MF.

I'm sure folks who have built a model of MF would know. Anybody? :)

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Been following the blog for a year--GREAT BUILD!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't wait to see the finished 1:1 Falcon. I will make a road trip just to wander around in it.

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Well, the sets from the prequels are still around. Of course, they are computer models...

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Actually, I recall seeing a lot of miniatures of some of the prequel sets. Sections of Theed and the pod race arena come to mind.

Weren't the original X-Wing models painted White over black, then burnished with a scotchbrite pad? I believe some people use Tamiya sky grey as a substitute. Maybe the model crew did something similar the MF models.

Hi Gang,

Bad news... on top of my spraining my shoulder... I had ANOTHER huge car repair setting me back a few more months... ugh... I'll continue to march forward with what I can/have but no big purchases for a while... :( And worst of all... I didn't win the Powerball Lottery last night! ;)

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Sorry to hear life is smacking you around these last few days. Hope the shoulder heals fast and you're able to turn your attention to other things you enjoy while you recover.

Charge admission to "fly the Falcon with Chewie for 15 minutes", with you dressed-up in a Chewbacca suit. You'll have some money in no time... :p ... I'm not sure how you're able to get anything done in a hot Alabama garage to begin with, just knowing how my sister's garage down there can be. Anywho... Cooler months ahead.
