“There and Back Again; A Mystery Chunk Tale”

Great story and awesome detective work.

Thanks for sharing the tale.

I never would have stumbled onto this discovery.

So, is the former “Mystery Chunk” now the “Wellies Chunk”??

Think I'm still gonna wait more for the dust to clear. Besides, my old chunk is super glued in and it's a solid body hilt, so there's going to be some surgery involved with this.

Having said that, the chunks are being graded, which seems like a really good way to differentiate, but my question is this:

A Grade is the least worn, which makes sense. BUT: Is A grade the most accurate? Is a little bit more wear more accurate? I'm curious what people are going for. It may or may not be the case that A is actually "better". Sure it is for those that lean more towards idealized. But some of the best V2's I've seen look like they've been put through the ringer some. My own is SLIGHTLY idealized...I went full 'wear and tear' on the paint and gaffer tape, but I didn't actually physically beat up the body of the hilt. )

Curious what people think.

Does anyone know if Roman has received one?

Can I still be a member of the old boys club? Even though I gave all my chunks away for free?
And a BIG Thank You for my Mystery Chunk, Danny Halliwax !! It goes great with my Thumb-screw from scottjua !!

I, for one, am thankful for how this was handled. A lot of people got Real Mystery Chunks for LESS than replicas!! Amazing!! (y)(y)

Letting go most of my passion for this hobby has made me much more relaxed for this stupid stuff and involved parts. :D

Obvisiously my saber is no original but a good but 100% replica machined one. So i don´t care or take any action before i see a nice replica with a 5mm threading. ;)

There are parts i like to have as originals, sometimes even more than one to display them build and original - but a shoe-nail is none of them.

Is anyone else hitting Google hard to unlock what the clamp lever is. Ha it's amazing this was found, it's all super exciting.

Ha and i bet you guys may have an inkling as to what it may be. I'm all over the shot with it. Grenade spoons, pen lids. Crazy.
