Almost there.
Since I don't like a showroom finish on this prop I decided to weather it. Dragged it along in my toolbox for a while. Looks bad ass now.
All I need are the 'oven knobs', the little things on the side and the strap.
A big "thank you" for Marcus who helped out a lot with the decals and buckels.
Here's a rough prototype of mine. From the front view it'll look pretty much like the concept art...
But for the back I'm basing the design on the Hoth binoculars. It had to be scaled down and rearranged a bit, but I will at least be using a real tube valve, even if a smaller one than on the Hoth prop.
Looks awesome Marcus!
You know I was watching Rogue One just a couple of days ago and as you may know they used the other concept idea for the movie. I noticed that that model does not have eye pieces but a screen. It even lights up in some scenes. So it is possible that the one we're building also has a screen. But eye pieces look cooler.
Thanks Halli. The large "capacitor" was machined, the rest are mostly vintage parts. I could do with an accurate leather RotJ glove and not this Rubies pleather number! That hand electronics is intense man..
