Supply Sourcing In Canada

Hey all, I've been lurking around the forums for a while but have finally decided to make an account. I'm new to the whole prop and costume making scene and would really like to get started but I have been running into the issue of sourcing supplies without draining the entirety of my bank account!

I was wondering if there are any fellow Canadian makers around who could help me with this issue, i'm not too far from the Detroit border so if I have to I'd be willing to drive over there but with exchange and border fees I'd prefer to stay local.

The things I'd be looking for are paints, foam, sheet plastics, really just anything and everything. My biggest issue at the moment is that I know buying things like foam can be cheaper in bulk but shipping especially across the boarder can be killer!

For professional supplies it doesn't get better that Sculpture Supply Canada: http://www.sculpturesupply.com/

They're in Toronto and they do ship, but it's totally worth the drive if you want to ask them a boat load of questions. They know they're stuff. Otherwise you've got Michael's (overpriced), Home Depot, etc.

On a side note, we have a pretty kick ass prop community in Ontario. Check out the Toronto Prop Expo: https://www.facebook.com/torontopropexpo/

It started out as a purely RPF event but has grown over the past 8 years.
