you know you can just pull it off with a pair of pliers, right? I think i popped mine off within the first 30 seconds of opening the box lol.

The one you linked to is actually quite a bit smaller than the plastic airsoft.Recently, I found yet another cheap airsoft Mauser C-96, this time the frame is a zinc alloy, which I should be able to drill and tap threads for the scope mount, and have it be stable enough. And this one is a whopping $15.
Here is the eBay link for the one I'm looking at:

At that price, I have no problem being a guinea pig for a budget build, as most my builds are. Before I pull the virtual trigger, has anyone used one of these for a DL-44 budget build?

Plastic airsoft on top, zinc alloy airsoft on bottom.

I modified the elevation knob on the scope. I sanded it thinner on my belt sander and filed the mount to match. I then re-made the detent notches.

Then I cut the groove and lightly sanded the knurling to take off some of the sharp edges and make it appear worn. The mount looked too thick to me, so I sanded a bit off. It turns out the scope diameter is the same as a 10 Gauge shotgun shell, so I wrapped some sandpaper around a shell.

I had to make a shorter stop pin.

I filed down the cross-hair bolt to fit the mount.

I blacked it out with a sharpie and weathered it a bit. I'm not totally happy with this and I think I'll paint and weather it again.

I'm pretty satisfied with the end result.

Next is to do something about those plastic grips.
Nice work!! Does that scope wheel come off easily. Just unscrew it or is there a trick?
that site always changes their URL, I just got a 404 even though you posted that 15 hours ago. Best advice for anyone else, just go down their front page and click the Star Wars link, you'll find a Jyn blaster and a Solo blaster.
Hey Gang! Not to derail the thread, but I was looking around the KYAirsoft site and, what's this?.....
Just curious if it's a movie prop that I'm unfamiliar with, and if so what movie?
