I have finally completed the paintjob on the mask, I ended up revising the whole color scheme to be more accurate to the movie. I was rewatching the Bluray and saw that the creatures skin was much darker and dustier. I found it very difficult to match, but I am happy with how he currently looks. I have learned loads making this and I think I will re-visit this mask soon and maybe sculpt a new one and do a better mould so I am not cutting off air bubbles for days!
here are some final photos, I need to get myself a Mangalore costume now!!
Thanks everyone! I really appreciate the kind words.
Stay tuned to this thread, I will be working on a set gloves to go with the mask over the next few weeks. I found some good reference of the Mangalore hands on the Propstore website. coming soon!!
I've been working on and off on doing some gloves to go with the mask, I am planning on wearing them around the office at halloween for laughs.
I started roughing out the shapes here, these are sculpted on top of a pair of polyurethane lifecast hands that a friend loaned me. He was also kind enough to allow me to heat the fingers of the hands so i could gently bend the two middle fingers together to give the Mangalore the correct amount of fingers.
I found some high resolution photos of original gloves on Propstore, and matched them closely as possible
the sculpts are now finished waiting for moulding, hopefully that will happen over the weekend!
Sorry its been a while, busy with life!
I've finally finished the latex gloves for the Mangalore mask, I'm pretty happy with how they came out for the first time making monster gloves.
In painting the gloves I had another opportunity to better match the screen colors of the character, so I pulled a better, cleaner mask from the mould and painted the head and hands at the same time so they all had the same paint treatment.
Now I just need to start the costume!
