Zork Props (Infocom Packaging)

I know there was a previous post about video game props so hopefully this thread is ok.

One of the great thing about old computer games, Infocom especially, are the great "feelies" they used to include in the packaging. For instance if the game was about a futuristic town the box might contain a map, business card and matchbook from locations in the game. Some times you would use the props to help you through the game and sometimes they were just provided to help emerse you in the world.

One of the most sought after props from old computer games is the Zorkmid (in game currency) provided in the packaging of the Zork Trilogy.

Has anyone done any cast of one of these coins? Made any replicas?

How funny, I too am looking for this coin. Just yesterday I was doing a search and decided to come here and to my surprise I find this. Hopefully there is someone here who can give this a go, I know that I would buy two maybe more for a good price.

Now I remember that I had one of those when I was a wee lad. It's going to drive me crazy what happened to it - it HAS to be stashed somewhere....

I played through almost all of the Infocom text adventures, but most of them were in compilations which didn't have the extras.

I have a few of the original single-game boxes with the goodies that came with them, but never knew that a real Zorkmid was made!

Now I'm going to go crazy wondering what other goodies I missed out on.

Does anyone know what the "Brass Lantern" looked like? Did they ever depict it in any of the later games that had graphics?

(Now I'm thinking of finding an existing battery-powered lantern, finishing it in brass, and maybe adding a Zork-brand nameplate to it).

I think that there are several brass lantern images on google. If you google zork egg there is only one rendition of it, but it is cool. I was thinking of making some Zork props in the future. I need room first, but right now a Zorkmid would be the best.

they go on ebay for around $100. I would be willing to throw in cash with anyone who had the capability of replicating them. They came with the game Zork Trilogy. PM me if you wanna go in on one. the more the better.

The nameplate should definitely read "The Frobozz Magic Lantern Company".

And at the bottom of it: "The Frobozz Magic Nameplate Company"?

EDIT - And the IFwiki is your friend!
