Any ideas on what to use? I was going to use a black morph suit. Ive seen some people with motorcycle suits maybe I could combine the two? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Re: Under Suit for Master Cheif Costume

also in the visor I would like to add in detail (the real cheif helmet has grooves in the visor) im going to be using a tinted gold motorcycle helmet, to get the grooves I want can I use a dremel?

Re: Under Suit for Master Cheif Costume

for the visor, i'd suggest double-layering it to get a noticeable groove, that would also make it stronger, whereas using a dremel on it may break through (unless you've got a steady hand), and it would be weaker. that's how i would go about it.

do you have any pics of your helmet?

Just got done painting the top section, where it needs to be darker. going to paint the rest next weekend. so a double layer of the visor should do it? I think I could super glue the two together then super glue the visor inside the helmet. Thoughts? Also where can I get cushion for the helmet?

Re: Under Suit for Master Cheif Costume(BUILD)

nice, the helmet looks great! and it's just my suggestion, i'm not sure how the other halo makers do it, but it would make sense to double-layer the visor. i'm not sure if super-gluing it would be the best idea though, super-glue tends to cloud up clear visors. this might not be a problem with the reflective glass but again, i'm not certain.

cushion for the inside of the helmet, i would suggest peel-n-stick foam. I'm planning on using it on my skyrim helmet, since you can buy it cheap in sheet form, cut out a shape you like, and then simply peel and stick to the inside of the helmet!

Re: Under Suit for Master Cheif Costume(BUILD)

If you are going to use a Drexel on the visor it will distort your vision. If you are alright with that use a clear visor over your gold visor, cut the ridges into the clear visor. When done with the ridges take only the clear visor and lightly heat the areas that have been cut. It will start to go clear again. If you do this with the gold visor it will distort the color.

Thanks I got it from echo5633 its top notch! For the super glue I wasn't planning on spreading it all over the visor probably just put some dots in the corners. And that's actually a really simple great idea for the cushion inside the helmet, why didn't I think of that duhhh hahah :facepalm

I changed this thread to a Build I want to have this done by Oct 30th heres what I have to do
- Paint the helmet
- make Rondo and spread in armor
- install buckles to hold the armor on my body (I NEED LOTS OF FOAM PM IF YOU HAVE ANY FOR SALE!!)

Okay I followed you up to here. so when I make the grooves on the clear visor heat it then attach it to the gold visor? Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Since im going into much detail in the visor how can I get a honey comb look on the visor? the picture will explain.

Those circle-honey comb looking things on the visor is what im referring to if that makes sense.

Re: Under Suit for Master Cheif Costume(BUILD)

yeah as long as the glue isn't too noticeable then it shouldn't be a problem, and i'm glad you like my foam idea! as for the armor, how much do you have done?

Re: Under Suit for Master Cheif Costume(BUILD)

How I would do it: tape the pattern on the inside if the clear visor, and take model paint "silver or aluminum" highly thinned out with paint thinner and paint the pattern onto the inside of clear visor with the thinner/paint mixture. Then remove the masking tape and glue together the clear, and gold visors using superglue/crazy glue around the outside edge (not on any visible surface as any glue that will bind these together will fog the visors or destroy your paintwork)

Thanks! and the armor is painted and done just needs the buckles and rondo applied.

Silver paint? why not black? the pattern looks to be dark not light, is there a reason why to use silver vs black? On the visor I do the pattern should I make the grooves on that visor as well? Or do a triple layer 1 clear (grooves), 1 clear (pattern), 1 gold visor.

Re: Under Suit for Master Cheif Costume(BUILD)

I would be painting the grid pattern and leaving the circles clear. If you want the black you can do the same thing for the dots, but it will be harder to get these semi clear.

Re: Under Suit for Master Cheif Costume(BUILD)

I see what you mean now, would metallic work just as fine as the silver or aluminium?

Re: Under Suit for Master Cheif Costume(BUILD)

As long as you use the compatable thinner, most model paints will do this effect with lacker thinner.

Re: Under Suit for Master Cheif Costume(BUILD)

Going to order the visors tomorrow. Now back to the original issue, the under armor. Would a black morph suit be fine? Or should I do a combination of a motorcycle jacket & morph suit?
Edit: how much visibility will I be loosing btw? To the point where I cannot even walk/run?

Re: Under Suit for Master Cheif Costume(BUILD)

You will notice the grid pattern when you first put the helmit on, but a pair of sun glasses is worse then this as long as you thin the metallic color down enough, about 1 part paint to 100 part thinner. Remember you can always put more paint on, but on clear plastics you can't take it off. So thin coates, but put them on continueously so that it stays even. The big spong brushes that you can get at any hardware store have worked best for me.

Re: Under Suit for Master Cheif Costume(BUILD)

I'll pick up the paint thinner on Sunday, hopefully I can find a motorcycle shop I rather just buy it from somewhere near me rather then wait for shipping, thanks for your help! So the morph suit vs the motorcycle jacket. Im going to order a morph suit and if I need the jacket ill buy that.

Just got done with and a 3rd coat after the 1st I sanded it down and applied the 2nd coat, and 3rd coat was just to even it all out. Sunday ill be removing the masking tape and working on the rest of the helmet and will be making and applying rondo to the inside of my armor.

The Rondo turned out VERY good. Im extremely pleased with it. So I figured out how I'm going to wear this. Will be a mixture of heavy duty velcro and a buckle system. I just ordered a motorcycle armor jacket, and a gold tinted visor. Will be picking up some gloves and a morph suit Thursday. Due to time ill have to detail the visor another time (before the Halo 5 release). underneath ill be wearing a morph suit and the jacket over that. Sorry for the late update.
