Zam blasters galore....

After about a year and a half this blaster project is finally coming to fruition!!!! :thumbsup

I thought I would share these images in the prop area as most of you probably aren't reading the blaster run ;) .. just wanted to show them off a little :)

I must say though... they are turning out very nice. I think they give MR stuff a run for their money! With Jim Shima's help of Hyperdyne Labs we have put together one impressive blaster.

This is the first five assembled with electronics. I have 5 more to build with electronics for people. The sounds are awesome. It sounds just like Zam's blaster in the movie ... which coincidentally is the same sound as the tie fighter .. I believe.

Although they're not really a "new" project it sort of feels like it. I don't get to work on very many "new" projects these days and am missing it!! Soon though.. we'll be catching up and bringing some new stuff out into the light ;)

I still have 5 more to build with electronics for people and I will get to work on those as soon as I can!

The blasters do look very nice Cal, great job! Now I wished I would of ordered one! :eek

Let me know if you need anything else. That sound board is one of the smallest I have done to date. Even has a tiny amplifier, its crazy! I also have more batts here if you need some extras.

Cant wait to see one of these in person...

VERY COOL Cal!

How loud is the sound, considering the small size of the speaker/ grill?
Is the left side of the grip held on with magnets to get access to the electronics?

There is a magnet pin at the bottom of the handle that helps hold the one side of the handle in place. The screw for the trigger does the rest. The sounds are pretty good due to the size. It's nowhere near the loudness of most of Jim's blasters or lightsabers but since the space is so small it could only be so loud. It is pretty good though! I don't know what to compare it to. Maybe a regular hasbro / kenner stormtrooper blaster. That's probably pretty close in loudness.

As we all know.. Jim is the "Tim the tool man" of the prop world. I think Jim told me when he was making the kits for the TK blasters that he wanted to be able to deafen and blind people with it :lol He came close to achieving it with those!

I should of taken more video. I am hoping Cal can take a video of a finished blaster so everyone can see the final product (myself included!).

The electronics ended up working out great, but it was a chore to get all that stuff to fit in that tiny handle!

Radimical! This is one of the few blasters from the PT that I liked.

Great work!

I have a run going ... well it's over now .. that was in the junkyard but mostly on the TDH.

Jim, I might have to have you take the video and post it. I haven't quite figured out how to do that yet.....

Bring one down and I will gladly take a video of it. I will even put it up on my youtube account and website.
