Yup! Another Dredd 2012 build...Tutorial PG 2

Re: Yup! Another Dredd 2012 build.... INCLUDES TEMPLATES

Sweet! Thanks, I didn't know what to call it. :)

I would suggest getting the 4mm spacer fabric if you dont plan on sandwiching foam in between the mesh and the lining material for the vest!

Re: Yup! Another Dredd 2012 build.... INCLUDES TEMPLATES

so ive been home for a day or two on holiday and ive made leaps and bounds with the dredd armor! all there is left to do is paint the helmet, add straps, make the lawgiver and finally the collar!

painted up the belt buckle and weathered it along with all the other pieces such as shins and elbow/knee pads

Also finished up sewing all the fabric parts minus the collar

made the badge removable

And I have sewn all the armour onto the fabric parts!

now just for all those dang straps...

Re: Yup! Another Dredd 2012 build.... INCLUDES TEMPLATES

really loving this build
making me want to build my own, I already have a perfect leather jacket for it

gotta find tat spacer material in Canada

keep up the good work!

Re: Yup! Another Dredd 2012 build.... INCLUDES TEMPLATES

okay so new update! ive finished strapping everything together according to this pic i found!

i also made the collar! i whipped up a simple 3D model to make templates in pepakura and using black corduroy and pleather I made my cowboy collar and stuffed it... this was so far the biggest challenge of the entire build as my sewing skills are... lacking to say the least

Test fit images with the helmet before I sewed on the shoulders!

and finally another test fit this time with no helmet but with the entire suit strapped together

Re: Yup! Another Dredd 2012 build.... INCLUDES TEMPLATES

so i finally sacked up and got the courage to glue in the visor! I hate visors for foam helmets :( they are so hard to install! Anyways after the visor was in it was smooth sailing for the paint job, i tried to give it a chipped paint effect using a technique i recently learnt

with the helmet finished all there is left is the lawgiver! but we couldnt resist suiting up....

one thing i really want to get to complete the look is some motocross boots... but the boots themselves would easily make me double the amount i have spent on this costume already :(

Pretty sick armor, I appreciate those templates as they gave me the starting point I needed on mine. I know mine won't be near the level of detail tho, but thanks for the inspiration!

Im actually in the progress of writing up a full tutorial on instructables, ill link it here when im done so that anyone who has questions on the build can reference that :)

Re: Yup! Another Dredd 2012 build...COMPLETED PG 2

Excellent work! Will definitely be referring to this when I start my Dredd armor after Halloween!

Thanks! i just wish a mod would see this and put it in the Dredd section of the forum so more people looking for this type of thing could find it, thats where my tutorial link would be most useful!

Any plans on the Lawgiver Mk2?
Really admire your creativity and skills!!! :thumbsup

Thanks! and yes there are plans to finish off the costume with a Lawgiver! Just need to find the time to do it after I come back home from abroad. I plan to mod a cheap glock 17 airsoft pistol using EVA foam to make it

Hey yall! I know I'm about 12 years late for this thread, but is there any chance anyone has copies of the templates? The links provided are dead (its been over a decade, go figure) any and all help is appreciated immensely!!
