Your Indiana Jones Displays - Lets see 'em

Since I posted the Raiders gear, figured I’d post my Temple and Crusade gear as well.

And Crusade jacket and hat also from Steele & Jones

I've picked up stuff here and there for a decade or so but my display didn't really start to come into shape until this spring. In my case it takes the shape of a converted walk-out basement dive bar / speakeasy. Some inspiration borrowed from Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar and general tiki bar doodles over the years.

Put together on a shoestring budget and the general need to be outside building something.

I built it around the Indy pinball machine that I bought from a Diner and restored about 10 years ago.

At first, the booze were mostly top shelf and the props were mostly bottom shelf. Slowly I've been working on trying to improve the prop quality to match. Still have a little way to go.

Very cool.

After much back and forth in my head, I decided to make my Belloq version of the Hovitos idol a bit less shiny. This is how it was, which is great, but not quite the look I wanted

I wanted to give it a more true gold look, basically like this pic.

So I had a guy I know apply gold leaf throughout and then added some very light shading to antique it a bit. Still needs a clear coat after it dries but figured I’d post it here before I seal it and see if anyone thinks I made a huge mistake. I’m actually pretty happy with it but maybe I’m being to easy on it.

Looks way better.

Welcome. Not that it looked bad before. Lol. It just looks more accurate now.
Exactly. That was the goal. I’ve been on a kick of doing that lately. Taking my existing pieces that I was content with and taking them up a notch. First I tried it on the nurhachi, which I think went well, figured I’d try the Hovitos.
