Your Indiana Jones Displays - Lets see 'em

I've been planning on shaving down a salt lamp for years, but I haven't figured out the best method. Its a rock, so it doesn't sand well.

Where's your Abner journal from?

It looks like one of mine. I made them during the pandemic when I wasn't working my weekend job and I had a lot of free time. I originally made them because nobody really offered anything close to what was in the movie. I had an old Indy Magnoli one, but it was about the size and thickness of a Grail Diary. I believe it just had normal lines as well. The first few I made had normal lines, but then somebody pointed out that in the movie the notebook is ledger lined so I updated that. I sold all of the ones I made, except one of the early ones with a lighter green cloth than I later settled on and normal lined pages. I had already started working on filling it out when I made the updates and didn't want to start over. I was planning on remaking one for myself at some point.

However, since then Magnoli has updated his to be much closer than they were before. I actually ordered one of his a few weeks ago to check out and possibly redo my filled out book and it's really nice. The size is closer to what it appears to be in the movie (mine was a little larger because I was constrained by what my printer could print) and it has the correct ledger lines now. I may recover it at some point because I prefer the bookcloth I used. I also rounded the spine and used headbands on the ones I made, I may do that as well. But overall, his is cheaper than I could offer mine for and it's a better size. I did end up filling it out to replace the one I made. I still think the one in the movie is actually bound like a composition notebook, but Magnoli's is the closest available at the moment. I recommend it if you're looking for one.

Also realized it's been a bit since I've shared an updated pic of my display:

I was indeed considering a Magnoli one because of what you're saying. Most out there just don't look like the notebook in the film. Either they're not beat up enough, or the color is not right, or the pages are not right, or the thickness is not right. Whatever your did looks rather good.

Yes it is from you. Sorry I forgot

The Magnoli one is done well. I ordered it weathered because I wanted the interior pages weathered (I never did that on the ones I made to avoid the pages warping). All I did was pounce it with some extra fuller’s earth when I got it.

On the ones I made, I used sandpaper on the corners and randomly on the cover to simulate wear, spritzed a light instant coffee solution on, and pounced with fuller’s earth.

I also ordered the Magnoli weathered version and am very happy with it. I weathered it so more after I got it.
