You know what? %&$* Pixar

Re: You know what? F you, Pixar

The little girl at the end of Toy Story 3 who gets all of the toys was originally intended to be Boo from Monsters Inc. I think she still might be - I need to watch it again and look for the clues in her room.

That would be so cool, though it'd probably make me lose it again. Toy Story 3 and Monster's Inc. both got me, though neither hold a candle to what the first few minutes of Up did to my wife and me.

Ah Monster's Inc...the most perfect ending shot in all of film, outside the Godfather. And definitely a moment to make the eyes well up a smidge.

But Toy Story 3 bordered on abusive. It was like a Lars Von Trier movie. :lol

I'm not a parent but Toy Story 3 definitely made me very teary eyed. The scene at the junkyard really did it for me.

Re: You know what? F you, Pixar

T3 is as much about the toys as it is about you. AS we have watched this story unfold, we, the audience, have groen too. I think that is reflected in the story. All the kids that saw this as a child, are now headed off to adulthood; All the parents that took their kids to see this, are now headed off to retirement. It is part of the journey of life, for the toys, and for the audience.

Yes, the waterworks were flowing at the trash incinerator. It is that time when you know the end is near, and the only thing that is truely important are the ones you love. When Buzz reached over to hold Jesse's hand, that was too powerful for me.

We all will face our mortality.

Say what you want about Toy Story 3, but you find out in the third movie that Andy's family name is Davis.

My daughter though that was the coolest thing in the world.

T3 Wins.

Yep, sure, for all of you who have yet to see your kids about to go out of the house, this one REALLY struck home. My oldest son is in that mentality that he needs to give up his toys / momentos and move on.

I remember the day I left my house to move out in an apartment, getting out of college and getting ready to propose to my future wife. He was in tears. Heck, I was happy to be moving on and at that moment, his emotions did not strike me, I had my own feelings of moving forward swirling through my mind. He gave me a hug and it hit me he really was going to miss me in the house, I understood his heartfelt emotions and yet I was ready to move on.

Now my oldest is a few years away and already getting into that same independence mentality and this story hit me hard. Knowing what my father felt and knowing I would be the same way with my kids. This was a very strong emotional film to watch on many levels.

Oh, I know. As human and authentic a moment as you can ask for in film. Why aren't all movies this good? Did Pixar just take all the talent, leaving the rest of Hollywood to pay homeless men expired crack to churn out Transformers sequels?

Re: You know what? F you, Pixar

Yeah. I remember getting a bit misty at the end of Monsters Inc. The first part of UP had me all gooey as well, but for just about the entirety of T3 i was desperately trying not to look like a blubbery mess in front of the wife and kids. :lol Growing up is wrong.

Re: You know what? F you, Pixar

Just finished watching Toy Story 3 on Netflix. What the hell is wrong with those people? I thought Up was a tearjerker, but I think I'd rather snuggle up with my sons and watch The Road than sit through Toy Story 3 again. Damn. I'm gonna go put a gun in the mouth of my lost childhood now.

:lol

Your post killed me... I'm gonna have to send that to the wife :lol

I'm in the minority... probably more like a minority of one. When I took my daughter to see Toy Story 3, I literally dozed off during the movie... couldn't stay awake to save my life. The Toy Story movies are cool and all but it's just not my vibe or something. I've sinced rewatched it on BluRay goodness knows how many times thanks to the kids... Don't get me wrong, it's excellent story-telling and it probably should have been up for Best Picture at the Academy Awards (not just in animation) but I just don't get into the Toy Story characters the way most folks seem to.

I liked How to Train Your Dragon better myself. My favorite Pixar films are the Incredibles and Cars. Up, Wall-E and Toy Story 3 were just kind of depressing and not very fun to watch IMHO.

Re: You know what? F you, Pixar

Thank you Dualedge, I aim to please :)

It's good to hear I'm not the only one who got weepy, I must say...

Witty anecdote: ever read Where the Red Fern Grows? My sixth grade teacher read it to us, and at the end just about every guy in class pretended they needed to pee so they could sit in a bathroom stall and bawl.

:lol

I made the mistake of watching Falling Down after getting dumped by a blonde bombshell. Needless to say, that was not the wisest choice in entertainment that particular night...

Re: You know what? F you, Pixar

a few comments on UP , i've not seen it yet. how does it rate?

Re: You know what? F you, Pixar

I really liked it a lot. The beginning was heartbreaking, then it turned into a fantasy romp. My one criticism is that, like Wall-E, at times it felt like two seperate movies. But where I think Wall-E totally failed in that regard, Up integrates the elements well enough, with a common thread that keeps the disparate elements satisfying.

Which is a film snob way of saying great movie, didn't quite stick the landing. A-

Re: You know what? F you, Pixar

TS3 was a true testiment on how powerful the Pixar movies are. If you take a look at the other crap other studios are putting out, you can see why Pixar never resorts to dancing animated animals to get a cheap laugh. Pixar knows how to push the emotional buttons and they do it the best!

Re: You know what? F you, Pixar

I admit, I too almost teared up during WALL-E, Up, and Toy Story 3. Those Pixar bast#%!$!! :cry

:)
