You ever sell a prop, then regret it??

I agree with Funkyjedi's line of thinking...
It's strange because I've been collecting for over seventeen years, and in that time I've seen a lot come in....and a lot go. It's sad because I look at my collection now, and how it's dwindled away over the years and wonder what it would have been like to never have sold off any of it.
Sometimes, I had to sell an item to help pay bills - other times to help fund another prop I really wanted at the time.
There are a few that I really miss, but one day perhaps I can get them again.
It's a tough hobby - especially when you're an average joe working to make a living. This hobby can get quite expensive, and often times you have to bite the bullet and turn your back on great items simply because they exceed your financial situation - the most recent in my memory would be the newly released Pulse Rifle replica. Blessed are those who were able to afford this item - even on the payment plan, but so many fans had to let it be because of the steep price tag.
But I look at it this way - I got started in this hobby because I wanted a 'perfect' (in my eyes) replica of the Hoverboard - and all these years later I finally have one. If I had to give it all away and keep one, it would be the Hoverboard because that is the ONLY one that every truly mattered to me...

Ok..since I have to explain my life to justify my answer for some reason. I regret selling my stuff to hire movers to pay for my move and for the 'ex wife's! R E G R E T ! It was a tough time in my life and I chose to make it easier by selling my stuff to hire movers to expedite one of the worst days of my life.

Good enough?

I'm just about to liquidate my collection to fund my new "clone project".

It's tearing me up trying to decide what few things get to stay. :(

I've sold lots of stuff and I thought I'd regret it. But out of all the stuff I've sold, so far the only thing I wish I had back was the MR Sting. While not greatly accurate, it kicked butt because of the light up feature and the sound effects that went with it...both executed flawlessly. It also didn't hurt that I picked it up from TRU for $20 after hearing about it on this board.

Nah - the parts of my collection I've sold I've really enjoyed over the time I've had them in my collection.
Space is limited, quality and accuracy my foremost concerns - so I tend to sell stuff on and buy upgrades.
I thought I'd regret selling my MR Falcon, but I don't. Way too big, way too many problems with it - and for the cash I paid some bills and bought some other stuff to keep me happy.

Every day I regret selling this...

No, I'm usually happy to sell them for either creating too much clutter or just wanting to make a few bucks.

But, I do regret selling a few replica props that I sloppily made and sold for a high price. I want the customer to be happy with the items. I made and sold a cheap lighted Sankara stone once and the guy said his 5 year old son could have done better. Ouch!!

I did sell a COA Braveheart weapon for $20 once. Should've kept it.

well it wasnt a whole prop, just an extremely rare piece to one. i found the night vision scope that goes onto the sand trooper blaster, at that time i was the 3rd known to have found one.
i needed money badly, i had sold everything else, and it was last on the chopping block :(

I miss all my scratchbuilds. Thats one of the bad parts about taking commissions - you get attached to the stuff you make and its hard to give up.

Of all of them, I think I miss the Laser Rifle the most.... but I'll have to ship out the Daft Punk helmet soon, and thats going to sting a little.

That's an impressive piece. You're good!

sold my B9 Robot and I'm still sick over it! I took me 4 years to build but a new build is starting and this he's staying no matter what!

Even though it wasn't the most accurate thing in the world I had an early set of Spat Colonial Marine Armor that I sold almost 10 years ago when I was out of work. I regret that and that I have never tried to replace it.

Everyone of em...but in my mind, they are still out in the garage in boxes someplace.

So....it works out.

Except this one...it sorta freaked me out.
However, it was truly unique.

I regret selling lots of props over the years. Heck, I actually obtained my "holy grail" prop - a fully authenticated hero Rocketeer helmet - and wound up selling it to try and help my family's financial situation. I don't think my reasoning was wrong but I still miss the heck out of owning that prop... I know I'll never be able to afford another prop remotely like it. But there'll always be other props to own...

Almost an identical situation with me and both my original Stormtrooper helmets I was lucky enough to own when they were fairly cheap. They have tripled in price since I sold them. :facepalm

You know, there are pieces that i have sold that I miss, but I don't regret selling anything.

I had to sell off pretty much my entire collection back in 2005 during my divorce. Now I'm remarried and I've been able to put together a pretty nice collection again. It helped that I started building my own stuff and am getting pretty good at it. I had two "holy grail" items that I have wanted since the '80's and I built them myself with the help of the talented community here. They were a HIC and a Vader Reveal. If I had to, I'd sell them to help my family and never regret it. I'd just make them again someday. That's the fun part anyway! ;)
