I want to replicate the above badge, as I'm currently restoring one of these:

Sadly, there aren't a lot of them left in that condition. Mainly 'cause people, in the spirit of the great man, went out and ****ed themselves and the bike. How do I know? Because I did just that!

Long story short, my little brother ended up with a frame that I parted ways with 'bout a decade ago. He happens to be quite nostalgic 'bout it, as he used to come watch us ride when he was a youngster, which is why I thought I'd restore it for him. I just know he'll love riding it at our local skatepark this summer! But instead of restoring the bike to its original glory -- which, dare I say, is kind of gaudy -- I thought I'd customize it like a hot rod (some EK inspired pinstriping instead of the original decals would look pretty cool).

I do still want it to have a badge, but not the damaged one. Obviously, a stamped badge, like the original, is out of the question. But I'm thinking that an etched plaque could work. I could round the edges, then attach it to the downtube. With that in mind, I recreated the design in the hopes of having a plaque made.

Here's the recreated artwork:

So, what are my options, RPF?

Why don't you ask to Hoffman a new plaque ???? You give them the old and damaged one and they give you a new one....maybe it's possible....Customer Service ???? :)

BTW, it is a really beautiful bike...like it and the Man.

That's not an option, as they were individually numbered; and it's been twelve years since they were sold!

But, yeah, it's an awesome bike... the photos really don't do 'em justice (the seat's just way too high in the first one).

Nobody makes etched plaques now? I remember when more than a few members offered that service.

it might be possibly for me to make one. but I have been putting off the whole etching thing for a while right now due to lack of time. If I get more time I will start a thread about it and PM you about it too
