What's up RPFers! Ok I finally got the balls to build a prop. So I've wanted a Cap Shield for a while but never had the coin to buy one, so I had found a 33" satellite dish which I thought would be great for this project. I took a compass and measured out and got my 26" round. Being that I work in a sheet metal shop, I use the band saw to cut it out & weld the original bolt holes (best idea is to TIG weld it because it's thin material).

I'm gonna have to fix the hole a little better with JB Weld. After some sanding, this is what I got.

I then fashioned my brackets at work. They were hand drawn and then cut from 16 gauge & 14 gauge.

I searched forums, videos & reviews to find out the best paint to use for the steel look. Nothing but fights & confusion. so on my own I found Rustoleum - Flat Antique Nickel spray paint. Looks freakn awesome. In the pic above, the 4 small brackets, the one on the left (on the paper is sprayed). It looks like aluminum. Here's another pic.

Like I said in the title, it's a WIP so I'll be post new stuff as I go along. Feel free to leave me some tips or comments on what you guys think.
