I realize that parts of this replica have been released as 3D files which folks are encouraged to download and print for themselves, but there is also his first parts run in the Project Runs forum, the first of several we are led to believe, which makes this a "kit" under any definition of that word.

Offering several parts doesn't constitute a 'kit', mate. A kit should provide for a complete model not just a few components. Even 'kits' that require a lot of fabrication at least provide the raw materials (e.g.,wood strip and blocks in a wood ship model) to build from, which DaveG does not.
