Everyone, I just got XENO's Stargate.

It is amazing and I highly suggest everyone get one.
They are simply beautiful.

The picture here is real.
NOT a photoshop effect in anyway.

This was done with my camera phone.

This visual effect is done with a CHEAP ($50) Disc Jockey
lighting effect called Abyss, made by Chauvet and for sale
on ebay....

The also make a Chauvet Abyss II, BUT same effect only bigger for $150.
To be honest I studied these, you really only need the $50 one.

It is about 6 feet away mounted from ceiling and projects a round image.
Perfect for the gate. It also changes color and the water effect is constantly moving.
Built in fan, ceiling rack mount for easy install. I am putting mine on an on and off switch
to turn on when the chevrons all sequence, then hit the switch at the right moment.

I love this. The replacement bulbs are only $10 EACH. tHEY ARE 100 WATT.
plenty of light that close up.

GUYS, get this for your gate. Tis perfect.....
and get this light effect projector to make your movie room magic.

Thanks again to Marco for a wonderful prop.
Enjoy the videos.

This is my first attempt at video and You Tube.
Click on the link.

I DO want to say that the gate is not plugged in and the projected
image is too bid and projector needs to be closer to FIT properly.

This will all be done perfectly when permantly mounted in Theater.
Let me know what you think.

I uploaded 2 videos.
Wish you all could see this LIVE it rocks...
Thanks again Marco.

There is an Abyss for $150 that gives you more control, you can stop on one color and more. But again 3 times as much. The smaller unit has a shut down 1/2 hr mode to protect and not burn the lamp all day, however the bigger unit can be elft on for hours.

Choices, choices...
The smaller unit has bulbs for only $9 each...

let me know what you think.

looks great,

how bout putting a screen in the gate and doing it rear projection.

john :cool
[/b]

Thanks.

I didnt want to do a rear projection.
It would have to be 6 ' ffet out from wall.

The projector sits only about that far in front of it.
I have painted the projector black and in the theater room is vertually
invisible.

You can't believe the look in person.
It amazes me everytime I see it.

It moves and changes color just like the movie.
The illusion is perfect.

Thanks for all the kind words.
I can't wait for Marco to see it.

Mark,
You are welcome anytime.

:)

seriously Tom,
looks great. I've always wanted this water effect if it looks real enough for my 7 ftr
Please get back to me
Sincerely,
Will

What specifically do you want to know about the water effect.
It changes color slow and constantly. You could go in I guess and make the color one color by stopping that one motor. The water effect is made by two wheels going in two directions.

For $50 ya cann't go wrong.

Look at the pics again.
Amazing stuff.

When I got the gate I knew there was something out there and I found this. Crossed my fingers and wa-la.

It is sooo cool.
Hope this helps.

Tom

LIKE...WOW .......

Tom that looks frigging great :lol
the effect looks really good, can you also make vids with your
camera, I would like to see how the effect moves.

I hope you can take some more pics.
and will add the Abyss by Chauvet info on my site, for interested people.

I'm happy you liked the Stargate, and I hope you give it a
prominent place in your museum :)

I know this light .. we have it haning at work. It was indeed the frst thing that came to mind when I saw it. Awesome you did it .

Tom,
well I was wondering if you can freeze the color on blueish green or blue and can you speed up or slow down the water ripple effect, just saw one of these on auction for 79.00 including shipping, but it's the Abyss 2, this unit has the above features mentioned, does the one you have do this a well?
Sincerely,
Will

You're welcome Tom :)

you could try to attach a ring in front of the light to constrain
the beam a bit more to inside of the gate

you always come up with the great ideas :)

Xeno

Hey, if you can buy bulbs for it, why not just buy bulbs that are all the same color? **edit... or if it's not a colored bulb and goes behind a colored 'lense' or something, just replace all the colored lenses with the same color.

Cool effect, btw. :)

I simply will mount the projector closer.
It is a small unit with a very quiet fan.

Plus the benefit of having it closer is that the image is much brighter..

What do you think of the visuals now that you can see the video?

Tom

the visuals look great, but is the wavy pattern
moving up, down or standing still, it's not clear enough to see.

It moves downward.

I just ordered the Abyss II.

It has a feature of with a flip of switch it will stop the color of choice
and have the water effect with just the one color.

It also has a 230 watt bulb, compared to the 100 watt.

It should be quite impressive.

I hope to get the gate mounted today above my mummy display and have the projector
mounted as well. the effect is so strong I had to get the larger abyssII.

More to come.
again, I wish you all could see this in the gate better, It's amazing and looks like a hollywood effect.
