X-men: First Class costumes?

Ok, so the knee and elbow pads are actually a blue color as well as the leather piping that goes along the ribs/under arms? I totally thought those were black. Yikes!

They still look black to me, on two seperate monitors. Concensus of the group now, I guess, as when I watched the film in theaters I saw black on blue as well.

I have been following this thread for a while and thank everyone for posting hints and tidbits, which helped me make my Mystique flight suit

Your makeup is seriously excellent!!

Hands down, the best attempt at this I've ever seen. That's beautiful. The yellow, the clean lines, everything.

I want to make one of these suits so badly but the only girl is mystique :/

Looking closer at all of Protoprofessor's hardware, it seems most of it if not all of it is plastic or at least aluminum like the shoulder buckles? The chest and waist buckles are plastic clips painted silver with the knobs attached, and I'm guessing that two pressure valves might be plumbing pieces that can found at a hardware store, connected from the inside out. The knobs and harness buckles seem to be custom, but if they are it shouldn't be too hard to create and cast.

Someday I shall create Magneto, Mystique, and Xavier! (Jumpsuits/Flightsuits)

This is one thing I've wanted to do ever since I saw the movie, so I'll definitely do it sometime, though that is most likely years from now...

I'm glad to see this thread went on as long as it did, and you guys all made some really great costumes! Sadly, mine never went past the point of concept. I had some cool sketches drawn out, lists of all the materials you guys suggested, even got some tips from a local costume store.

But, alas, I just never had the funds for it. The place I lived was just too expensive, so I had to move, to a place that decided to charge extra rent directly after I moved in, so now I'm right back where I started. My passion for cosplay and props will never end, but as for now, the only place it can exist is my dreams.

Thank you, everyone who contributed! You guys rock and made the last year of my life a really awesome journey in these 15 pages. Keep up the good work guys!

So glad to have found this thread!

Currently researching the XMFC Magneto (yellow/navy) jumpsuit. Finding fabrics that are even close to what was used in the film is very difficult. I have watched the special feature on the blu-ray about how the costumes were made, and they put a lot of time into getting the perfect fabrics and even handmade some of them. Looks like I'll end up making a "close but not quite" version for an upcoming con, and then taking the time to make something better down the road.

If anyone has any tips on where to find similar fabrics, a PM would be most appreciated!

Glad to have found this thread too :)

I'm researching building a Mystique for 2014, and while I would love to do a costume from the next movie, but there's no actual guarantee she'll be wearing any outfits while blue, so if not I'll be making this suit.

I'll be glad to see what you come up with, kathgruben :) There is some awesome stuff here!

Starting Beast - long legs - short sleeve configuration. pouring over photos for information - will NOT be using denim. WILL be finding the nylon to self waffle. (and WILL be self ribbing for the jumpsuit too) -- after working on Daft Punk, I'll be an old hand at it!

the yellow woven cloth, unless I can find the weave - I may be looking at monk cloth, since it's similar.

I will post pictures!!
