Hello RPFers! I was contacted by a movie theatre to do an X-Men suit for the premier since they like my Spider-Man so much.

Unfortunately, they only gave me 2 weeks notice so I'm whipping up a Magneto!

Since I can't find pep of the new helmet, I'm using the Shaw template and foam!

Here are some references I'm using:

So I started with the helmet (I know, you really shouldn't but I couldn't help myself). This was a really hard process for me. I took the Shaw templates and TRIED to convert them to foam, but I ended up giving it a weird Egyptian god look or something. So I tried using some tile plaster to shape the top of the head to more of a dome shape. Plaster cracks sooooooo easily, but I managed to make it look a little better. Not by much though.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1400211093.488862.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1400211114.008965.jpg

So the helmet is a little small and it looks really beat up, but I guess it kind of looks like that in the movie. It'll do!

Next, I made my own templates for his armor freehand on foam. I put one coat of wood glue on them and then sprayed them with PlastiDip. After that dried, I used a flat red spray paint for the base color. I still have to figure out the templates for the chest piece, maybe I'll do that tomorrow.

Sorry for the lack of updates to anyone following/lurking. This is the finished product, although it's not movie accurate. I had to redo the helmet, so I went the pep/resin/bondo method and I think it all turned out ok.
