X-Men: Apocalypse (Post-release)

I'm very confused. Did the movie just ignore the ending scene of Days of future past when Mystique was in disguise as Stryker, taking Logan captive?

Why is this?

Honestly these type of movies must be the hardest to write, because mutants are made to be so powerful you get inconsistancies. You'll wonder why did they do this or that with their powers at certain times, it's got to be tough juggling so many characters with mutant powers.

Film was good! I don't see why it got so much internet hate, I walked in spoiler-free and was quite happy that I didn't read any reviews besides the overall ratings that were posted.

Quicksilver steals the show yet again! I like how he keeps his secret and wants to wait it out for another time, gives us a bit of looking forward to if they all sign on for more films. Nightcrawler was pretty cool, loved that they kept the same *BAMF* smoke fx like he had in X2, and I knew they would say something about electricity messing with his powers. They showed a tiny bit of that in X2 where Stryker has the children BUT Nightcrawler was able to teleport into that electrified cell.

Scott and Jean were played really well imo, best version of Scott, a lot more A-Holeness compared to James Marsden. Loved his 80's style, that looked really cool. And in the rebuilding scene it looked like he was wearing a denim vest like the ones I see on eBay when searching for McFly denim jackets! Loved the Ray-Bans and hope we get someone to replicate those badboys :cool

That cameo. That amazing, INSANE cameo... OMG I was pumped once I saw the helicopter flying and immediately knew it was Stryker, and knew who else would be popping up soon. Absolutely amazing scene, I hope to the Fox bigwigs that that will be a small taste of the Wolvie solo film, would love to see more of that in a full length film!!!

The climax was okay I guess, sucked to see Apocalypse couldnt really change his size, even when Singer stated he could change his own molecular structure. And the trailers had angles to make it look like he was huge, I was hoping to see him 20 feet tall and have his followers gathered around him floating or something. Angel was cool, was hoping for more of him, he seemed underutilized to me. I mean COME ON a guy that flies gets taken out from a crashing plane... WHAT!? That ticked me off and made me sigh deeply.

The suits, the black flightsuits were cool. The Danger Room suits needed to be in full light shots, they hid them too much in the dark, I WANNA SEE THOSE SUITS IN ACTION. QS and Scott had the best fashion of the whole thing, loved the songs that played too! We need another X film set in the 80's, they can't jump ahead to the 90's already, I'd love some more 80's X-Men in a series or something.

7/10 overall, 100/10 Jackman cameo, may see this multiple times

It was good. As always fassbender and mcavoy for me are what makes this new xmen series so enjoyable. Quiksilver also as in dofp has great scenes and was great too see he had more screen time. The other xmen were also good and actually prefer them to the old ones. Mystique her role for me tho is a bit like what i have with black widow, in that it is putting in plots so they can become more relevant then that they need to be.

The powers while visually they can be nice to see are just way too much at times and dont always make sense so yes i would have preferred if they would have toned down the powers cus now it was just way over the top.

The wolverine cameo was good cus it was short which was to be expected and def dint have to be longer.

Overall i enjoyed the movie even if it should have been toned down a bit when it comes to the scale of everything.

Just finished watching it.

X-men really got the ball rolling on Marvel-character movies. I know these are not Marvel properties, which is problem the biggest problem. But, I don't think they could have done what Marvel has been able to do with their property back then. They didn't have nearly the long-term vision or foresight for a legitimate franchise.

I know it'll never happen but the best thing they can do is hand over the reins to Marvel. They have the setup with Deadpool to make a turnover.

They've managed to fill in a lot and piece everything together as best they can and overall they've been able to pull it off.

I think the best thing they can do for these movies would be to wrap it up and then reboot it and do it right now that they know they have the staying power and fanbase.

While Singer hasn't been a bad thing for these movies I feel like there are things he fumbles the all on.

Either way, I look forward to seeing the next Wolverine movie and whatever they put out next.

Yeah even before the events of DOFP, the mutants aged 45 minutes over the course of a decade between FC and DOFP. Mystique is one that I can understand, but Chares and Erik would be like 100 in 2025 at the end of DOFP? Havok was Scott's brother, and their parents look relatively young to have a 40 something and also a teen

It was an okay movie. Quicksilver was definitely the best thing in the movie. As for Apocalypse himself... If he had the power to turn those factory workers into dust, then howcome he couldn't just kill the X-Men as soon as he first encountered them? (when they arrived at the mansion to take Charles) Then again it would have made the film a lot shorter, but still it would have been a display of power and make him an even more threatening villain. So far the only cinematic superhero film villains to ever seemed threatening to me are Loki, Helmut Zemo, Doctor Octopus, Heath Ledger's Joker, and Harvey Dent. Since Apocalypse in the comics was so powerful, I thought he'd be more threatening than this.

I think that was just one of the main issues with this movie that the powers were changing soo often. And at times were soo over the top that other scenes started started making no sense. Fassbender is such a great magneto but too see him control the metals in the earth was just too much lol. The villains that you mentioned are prob similar to mine when it comes to good villains and that has been an issue with the superhero genre. The villains actually being a threat wether its on a global scale or less. So as we move further into certain universes like Darkseid with DC and Thanos with marvel i just wonder if they can actually make it so you feel as if there is a great threat going on.

Fassbender and Mcavoy are the best thing to happen to this x-men universe but sadly i dont see them going anywhere further and would rather see it be rebooted since the timeline is so messed up now.

...i dont see them going anywhere further and would rather see it be rebooted since the timeline is so messed up now.

Definitely hope so. Or you know. End it with Apocalypse, reboot, and try to integrate things with the MCU. I mean Marvel definitely saved Spidey and it worked so well with them. I'm not saying that the X-Men films are really bad though, I think they're good. But I just don't see it moving forward anymore since like Mektar said, everything is so confusing with the timelines (I believe there are now three timelines within the X-Men film universe) and the numerous retconning.

Didnt really like it, my hopes died when they made mystique the main character. Everything was bland and the "acting" was wooden and uninspired. How many times are we going to see Magneto be "redeemed" and go on the Xmen's side again? They even reused lines from the original singer xmen movies. The best part in the movie in my opinion was when Angel was transformed and they played the four horsemen by Metallica in the background. So many things were wrong with this movie. Its like Singer just got some cards that had the characters names and powers on them. Cyclops: shoots lasers out of his eyes, Nightcrawler:blue and can teleport, Jean Grey: Deus ex machina. There were so many stupid things with this movie, I cant even think of anything they did right. As soon as the mansion blows up, stryker is there. When things go sideways at Alkali like, he just bails. Stupid. Like someone else mentioned, the end of DOFP was completely ignored. Not only the aging thing, but we are supposed to believe Beast(who looks worse every movie) is solely responsible for creating ALL the stuff in the mansion? "Oh yeah I made a retractable roof in the basketball court, after I built a new cerebro, and oh on my off nights I built this freaking jet, oh and here are some glasses kid, even though I had not done ANY tests on your eyes at all, maybe these ray bans I whipped up will control your lasers". Jean Grey's accent was awful, cyclops was a little ******, and dont even get me started on the electricty nullifying a mutants powers. Talk about lazy. Simon Kinberg should never be able to write another Xmen movie ever again. Even the Harry Potter thing was ridiculous. I also hate how they make Professor X out to be this awesome psychic, then on the astral plane, he gets his ass kicked almost instantly. Not to mention Apocalypse can pretty much do anything. From a movie making stand point, some of the effects looked really good, and some looked down right ridiculous, the beginning when he puts the guy in the wall comes to mind. Xavier will wipe moiras mind, but god forbid if he did the same thing to magneto. Dont even do that if its not going to make sense or be practical.
