Wether you go with biological or engineered, there is a huge conservation of mass problem. The material the web is made from has to be stored somewhere, so either there would be an invisible bag of web on his back or he would have to eat ALOT to produce enough web too swing around New York.

Maybe he did make his own webs and just didn't tell anyone... after all, a spider's web spinnerets are in their rear ends... he made the web shooters to compensate because honestly, how many comics are you going to sell about a hero who spins a web everytime he farts? lol

Working Web Shooters
I am dying to come up with an idea for working web shooters that are not those huge cans of silly string toy, I like the idea of silly string I just don't want huge cans on my arms I want something more compacted. Does anyone have any ideas on how I could do this??!

If you're okay with silly string, why not just take the nozzle off, attach it to some sort of plastic tubing, and then attach that to the can? Then all you'd have to do is figure out how to secretly press on the can to make the fluid move through the tube and out of the nozzle.

Try putting the cans on your waist or in a backpack and running an airtight air hoses to your wrist. The trick is that the can will have to have an open valve on them so that the pressure release valve is still in the wrist.

You could run a second hose with a braided line or fishing Line for that matter to the cans, add lever that pushes the cap down. Then add a "ring" that you can put on your finger to pull to actuate the system. Just a thought.

I've seen where people have taken spray paint cans and transfered the paint into empty deoderant aerosol cans.... as pranks. From the videos, it seems to work (never tried it myself), but I've often wondered if the same could be done with the silly string cans.
