Wolverine's Jackets

My apologies for harping on this, but the jacket still appears to go way below the belt line, as opposed to the original that is only a few inches below the belt line....am I seeing this wrong?

Wow, that jacket looks a lot better in your pics man.
But, like The Mantis said, the first thing I noticed was that the jacket still goes below the waist line. Other than that the jacket looks pretty awesome, how does it wear? Does it feel like it can "take a bullet"?

Could be. I have to see it with somebody wearing it before I can be sure.

I think you're right, I certainly dont believe it's as short as the original looks, but with nothing here to compare with. I cant really say for sure, I've tried to snap a few pictures with it on me. Ones in the mirror and the other is just facing the cameras toward myself. I've also had to lighten then up in photoshop (apart from the first one) as its night-time here. So excuse the poor pictures.
This first picture hasnt been lightened because it shows a very good representation of the colour of the stripes.

Not sure if these help at all, but gave it a shot anyway just incase.

The color of the stripes looks pretty good in the first pic, a lot better than the pic wested first released. In the last pic of you wearing it, its hard to see but it looks like it does sit alittle too low on your waist. Overall not bad, but we need better pics. :p

Nope, no changes at all. Thats the pattern they're using for normal orders for it. Only time it had to go back was for a bit of damage on the back and they replaced the damaged section free of charge.

That looks pretty damn good to me.

Did you ask them to make any changes to the jacket or is that stock?

Well if thats as good as your jacket looks off the shelf, then I'd like to see what THEMAN's custom jacket is going to look like. :)

That doesn't look bad at all. While it is longer, I would estimate that it's only about an inch. The Wested looks to hit just below the belt, while the original is right at the belt line. I guess you could request that Wested make this change for your jacket if it bothers you that much. What do ya think Mantis?

Yeah the torso of the jacket is definitely too long... You can see it in the ratio of the vent zipper length to the remaining length still to go to the bottom of the jacket... as well as the ratio of the sleeve length to torso length.
Still a very nice jacket though... I've got confirmation that mine was shipped today from Wested. Hoping to get it next week sometime. Hopefully the leather I sent them turned out the way I hoped. The color and 20 year+ natural aging of the leather I sent should match up well to the aging done on the brown jacket material.
I tried to get them to alter the cut of the back to match the original Vanson, but Gemma didn't seem to think they could alter that much from their pattern.

Did you request to get the waist length changed? Or would that be too much for the pattern too..?

Yes, I requested a certain back length and sleeve length to hopefully give the correct look, so we'll just have to see how well that works out in the final way they did the jacket.

You can see the back of the jacket when Wolverine returns to the Mansion and walks towards the Cerebro room to meet with Profesor X. The jacket hangs over the belt, leaving the butt exposed.

What Guardian Devil should do is tuck in his white T-shirt and take another pic showing the bottom of the jacket and his pant's belt line metting. I'm pretty sure his jacket is a tad too long. No big deal. It could also be the way pants are worn. They don't always stay in place.

Well guys, I actually got a call from Vanson yesterday. And well...my jacket is also DONE. It shipped out yesterday, but I'm guessing it won't be here until Monday...could be Saturday if I'm lucky. I feel kinda bad getting my jacket at nearly the same time as Guntahkela, since he waited 11 and 1/2 months for his and I only had to wait 2 and 1/2. But sooner is better than later I guess, haha. Well, it looks like vanson might be turning things around here, but I can only speak from my experience.

Yeah, too long my friend...and I've gotta work all weekend :unsure . But I have a feeling yours will be there today. :thumbsup

It looked darker in the films...

My jacket just arrived. Review:

No, really, I swear this jacket looked more like a dark chocolate brown in both movies, not this reddish-brown/rust color. Well, at least, dark brown is how the leather swatches looked like when they were sent to me.

The leather itself is not as hard to wear as I anticipated, but it is not immeditally soft. Jacket does get you worm. I'd be dammed to wear it during this unhleathy, hot summer.
The neckring is rounded, not squared. Very tough-looking zippers. Jacket weighs about 3 pounds.

Over all, it is all nice jacket. Beautifull craftmanship. I do still have mixed feelings about the color. I could've sworn the color was darker. I guess that's part of the risk when buying something before seeing it first.

Did the wardrove Dept. at Fox dyed the jacket after they got it from Vanson? Is there something I need to do to "convert it" into film-accurate, other than aging and breaking into it?

I might sell it and order a second one with a darker leather, not sure yet.

Let's see some pics....I promise you the film used ones were a dark brown. All my jackets that I received from Vanson were a deep dark brown with a healthy sheen.

Not trying to freak you out but you paid a premium price for a jacket and you should get what you paid for....you should not have to settle.

Again natural pics would help.

See the dark brown in this pic....

Umm, please tell me the color looks like the Vanson on page 14 at least. Or like this, I can live with this: http://www.vansonleathers.com/images/1new%...cs/5303_MOD.jpg I've got that sinking feeling...

I don't mean to freak anyone with pending orders, yet, but my jacket and the jacket in that Vanson link are 2 different colors. In fact, my jacket looks......lighter.

I just can't tell anymore from Mantis pics. I just can't trust flash photography. Example: I'm tanned skin, but with flash, I look black. Flash throws off the colors and light.

Perhaps, our monitors have their colors calibrated differently, but the truth is the jacket looks darker in the films. I just don't remember any shades of orange/red/brown in the jackets, other than in X3. That's what my jacket has, a combination of red, some orange and brown. Technicly, it's a rust color with some sheen. THERE IS NO DEEP BROWN ANYWHERE.

Can someone confirm on the collar snaps? Are the collars in X1 and X2 placed differently?

Finally, can someone post some X1 screengrabs or publicity pics of Wolverine with the vanson jacket? Vanson made the X1 jacket, right?
