Wolverine's Jackets

OK, I do know that Fox added a leather oil to their jackets which drank into the leather and made them darker, BUT they were all dark brown. There should be NO other hues in there....this is very strange unless they are experimenting with colors...also, what type of leather is it? Horse, lamb, cow? Should be good ol' cow and not horse.

For better or worse, I've gotta see some pics of this jacket. Gun, can you get any. Try outside with no flash. That will give a good idea of the color...

The leather is MI2. It is the thickest, bullet-proof one. As far as I know, they only had 1 type of leather, so we went with that one. If I've known they had softer leather, and I asked, I would had gone with those. Putting this jacket on is like trying to fit inside a more flexible stormtrooper armor. It takes some effort, but it all falls into place.

I don't have a way to take pics for now.

For as much as the pics of this jacket, in the last few pages, show some lightness in the color, I feel something is just not right. I just don't remember this jacket having a rust color. The color is not different hues. it is a combination of red, brown and oranger in one color.

I know X1 and X2 jackets were made by different companies, and the yellows vary, but does the color of the jacket itself vary as well? I'm watching X2 right now, and the colors are 2 different things.

Please, someone post X1 screengrabs. I think I saw a wolverine in the snow pic, a few pages back, but I can't find it.

Here's some pics of the jacket before it was treated so the brown was probably treated with that oil afterwards.

I'm working on finding the screen grabs.

Runner, I can't see pics, just the TRIPOD banners.

That pic of Wolverine in the bar is bad due to the lighting. The lighting throws a big yellow all over the actors's clothes.

Not sure if this pic is too dark. The lighting in the background snow seems right:

My jacket is nothing like that.

Well, I just tried the jacket on with pants, indian buckle and all, and this jacket is pretty sweet. If I was to gain more muscle mass, I could totally pull the character. The Rust color of the jacket is just getting in the way. Otehr than that, they really took into concideration my measurements. It really looks like it was built for me, not just something off the rack.

I just could've sworn the color was more coffe-like. Not as dark as the bates, but not as light as rust.

If I find out this is the right color, I will sell it and order a new one with the X2 colors.

So, untill the color issue becomes settle, the jacket itself makes me look like I just stepped out from the MTV awards. I will try to get pics taken ASAP.

Note to self: Self, buy a computer with USB ports, so I can use digicams. The 16 pin connections are obsolete.

The only problem with screens from the snow scene is that the jacket is wet from the snow. This pretty much darkens all the colors, so I don't rely on those.

You can't directly link to the jackman's landing pics. Look at the bottom set of pics... there is one from the end of the movie when wolverine is out side by cyclop's bike. The lighting seems pretty natural and you can just see the collar.

We just can't tell from those pics. Good point about the wet jacket being darker. I guess I will have to rent this movie. I never liked it enough to buy it.

Let's put it this way: Mantis said his jacket was a deep brown. Brown is a dark color on its own. Imagine a deep brown. My jacket is not even brown. The color is not brown at all. There is some brown in the mix, but I don't remember any reds or orange being part of brown.

Alright then, if your jacket isn't even a true brown, that's not cool. I do have an idea for you though. Insted of having a whole new jacket made, why not see if Vanson can redye it for you. I know they offer a redying service, but not sure of the specifics. http://www.vansonleathers.com/vanson_info/wash_and_redye.htm

EDIT:
So is it more like this:

My jacket's color would be the one on the right. If they can dye it to the color of the jacket to the left, perfect.

GuntahKela, this is a pic of one of the screen used ones before it was treated, looks like it is a lighter version of the one on the left.
xmen-1.jpg

So perhaps what you might have to do is try and buy that oil and use that on your jacket..

Gun, there is a chance that your jacket may be horsehide. That's what the jacket in that pic is made of. I don't know much about leather, but I understand that horsehide is quite thick and strong. Did you specify the MI2 leather? If so, that might be why your jacket is that color. When I placed my order I just asked for the Wolf jacket with gold stripes. I hope it turns out to be the correct brown. I should have it monday if it shipped out when they said it did. We'll see.

Didn't they say this was the proto? Screen-used jackets didn't have red.

For its thickness, it could be Triceratops skin for all I know. Like you, all I did was place an order for a Wolverine jacket. I figured they will know what leather and what else to use. When I talked with Dawn, many years ago, she sent me color swatches and told me to pick brown and gold. When I placed my order, Dawn was gone and Amanda took over. I learned the name of the leather was MI2 when I called repeteatly for updates. Same song every time,"We are trying to order the MI2 leather we need for your jacket."

I'm starting to believe this Amanda person has screwed up my order, for she screwed-up a lot of things throug out this whole transaction.

I did ask for a softer leather. Amanda told me this is the only leather they can use.

I don't know much about leather either. I didn't know they could also make jackets out of horse skin. What the hell does MI2 stands for? MISSION:IMPOSSIBLE to get a Wolverine jacket, or something?

I'm almost positive that the red was treated, and then that became the "gold" stripes which are on the X1 jacket.

NEWS FLASH.. I'm watching X1 right now.

After making 2 trips to Blockbuster, because the sexy bastards at BBV placed a X2 DVD inside an X1 DVD case, I've come to the conclusion the colors are WAYYYYY off..

The movie jacket is almost BLACK with a pin of brown. It's safe to say it is 99% black. I think it is even more safe to say the aging in the jacket gives it its brown.

The scene at the bar.
The scene in the train.
the scene inside the mansion when Profesor X, Storm, Cykes and Wolverine plot Rogue's rescue
The scene inside the 3D map room
The scene when Wolverine and Profesor X have the talk about leaving.
Logan saying good bye to Rogue
Logan getting on the bike and riding off.
All of these scenes show a dark jacket that MATCHES LOGAN'S HAIR COLOR. That's the best color reference I can shoot.

My jacket is rust. I'm sorry, but this jacket is going back.

The jacket itself is a masterpiece of leather. I've never owned a jacket this beautifull. The craftmenship screams it was built for me. I was playing around with the zippers and when the sleeve zippers close, they do a PERFECT FIT on my wrist. I was impressed. I definatelly want this jacket, but not like this. Jacket Good. Color BAD.

PS: We are gonna have to beat the CRAP out of the yellow stripes for accuracy.

well my custom Wested arrived here today...they really busted this out quick once everything came together.
It is a tad long on the torso, but I love this jacket. It wears awesome.
How do you like the way the leather I found and sent them came out for the striping? :D

this is how it looks in regular room lighting

this is with a little more bright spot lighting added in the room

Hmmm, I just don't know, Gun. I can say this though, when I ordered mine, the salesman who took the order told me and I quote, "this jacket is kind of a walnut color" Sounds about right to me. So if I receive anything diferent, it is going back and I'm gonna see if they will fast track a new one for me. I'm not waiting another 10 weeks because of their screw-up.

THEMAN, your Wested looks great. Much better with those colors. Someone should tell them to use that color scheme on ALL of them.

- John

Looks really nice THEMAN. You need to get some complete "suited" pics up when your done with those claws.
I'm seriously considering buying one of those PD X3 jackets, what is everyones thoughts on that jacket? The strips seem kind of off to me but I think its just cause they look too "new". Of course there is also the back seam that is off.. but yeah.
