i think david has decided we are all nuts and will have nothing to do with this jacket now :p
[/b]

LOL...I wish. :)
My computer crashed about 3 weeks ago. I did have another unit to work with but it was slower than watching flowers bloom in spring time, so I just waited for my system to be repaired and now I am back on line...but I have to redo all my favorites and figure out all the passwords for these places. Once this darn computer is up to speed again I'll get back in here and answer some questions and we'll get back on track. Sorry for my absense...but yea, I still say you're all nuts anyhow.... :angel :lol

David

I've updated the J/Y thread with all the needed info. If you're interested check that out. :)

In a nut shell, here's the mods I'll be doing to the jackets...

X1
I dont know what colors you'll see on your monitors but I can say this, the mustard/gold is identical to the screen used jacket. I had a swatch of the leather cut from one of these and matched it up 100%. Of course, that's the clean look and unweathered. Once these are weathered, used and distressed a bit they'll start to come into their own and look exactly like the screen used jacket. The dark brown color is also really really really close to the original and will weather easily. It's not a harsh pigment or tint. I designed it to naturally allow it to fade into the desired screen used look...but I wont rip off one of the arm bands...you'll have to do that yourself if you want to..:)
-The fit on my prototype is a little baggy in the prototype. The back needs to be pinched to fit right and I've already modified the paper patterns to respect that in all sizes. The sleeves are fine and the length of the jacekt will be a little shorter also. As a result the incline of the waist stripe will be adjusted a bit to give it a slighter diagonal dip.

X2

The base of the jacket is the same thick yet soft cow hide as the first jacket. Same dark brown color also. The mustard/gold color is now in suede and a perfect match to the color as well. I know a few of you have asked to make it more yellow in color, but what I'm showing on my prototype is what I'm delivering. It's meant to be the same color as the first jacket so that's exactly what I've done in suede. What is missing here is the rib line with double stitching that sourrounds both the sleeve area and waist area of the burgundy suede color. That was missed in the prototype but already noted for the production.
As for the fit, same axact concerns as the first jacket and will be taken in repectively.

I HOPE MY PREVIOUS WORK DONE TO DATE WILL BE ENOUGH FOR YOU GUYS TO BE COMFORTABLE WITH GETTING ON BOARD WITHOUT ME HAVING TO MAKE NEW PROTOTYPES. I've been making leather garments for a long time. Prototypes can and will have areas that need to be adjusted but considering how minor they are I really dont want to put this off another month or more just to make new prototypes to show the new corrections when I already know how straight forward they will be to do. So, a leap of faith here?? I dont know...you guys tell me.
May 4th is the cut off to get in on this. :)

David

can you post some pics of the back of the jacket

i would like to see how the cut is.

thanks

Sure thing. Not only but here's a bunch more.

Look closely at the leather and you'll see what I mean by easy-self weathering..it's really starting to look the part.

All details and zippers stitched in very clean and tidy. Everything is tight.

In my post above I've stated the slight modifications I'll be doing to this style. I still want to take pics of someone OTHER than me wearing this from all sides..:)
Also some of the back pics really give an idea to the thickness of the leather...but like I've said earlier....it's really really soft and pliable.

Enjoy!

David

Regarding the X2, here's a quick mock up of the new details. This is for the waist area but the logic is the same on the sleeve. The difference is on the sleeve I'm sure the double stitching comes to a point at the tip, but the side details seem to be rounded...like I'm showing below...what are your thoughts?
Oh and let me stress that these are extra discarded leathers and suede pieces I used for this. Colors are a bit off...dont worry about that. Look at the double stitched part on the goldish suede with the rib inserted in there and let me know if this is cool for the SIDES of the waist.

Thanks!

David

I'd say that looks good like that.

hey on the jackets are the front zips pockets or just vents?

i really want one but i dont think im going to be able to swing it.

DAVID - You are right from what I can see, the waiste detail rounds at the point, and the arm detail comes to as much of a straight point as you can get with piping and fabric...

Also I may have missed it but are you going to make the arm stripes closer together on the X2 jacket? As we stated the arm stripes on the X2 arm ~1/2 inch apart as apposed to the X1 @ 3/4 inch apart...

I'm all over this X2 with these updated details... you're really hitting the mark there DAVID!

We've finally gotten some nice weather here so I called my brother over to take some pics. He's a perfect size 46, which is what the prototypes are. These are the same jackets I wore in the pics earlier but naturally, they look much much better on him. :)
Still, consider the modifications I've stated above...these are still the same jackets as before!!!!

So there you have it. Finally you can see these jackets in better lighting and on someone who's certainly going to make them look more flattering than I did.....:lol
Also, notice how the X1 in particular (because I've been wearing it) is starting to self weather. That's going to look a lot like the screen used jacket real soon.

Thanks buddy!! The X2 arm details arn't necessarily closer...just stitched differently. On the X1, the stripes are cut and stitched on. The X2 has the suede stripes folded over on the edge and then stitched down so naturally they're going to take a little more space and thus look wider. Yes I will do that too. :)

Enjoy!

Details to follow for all those who contacted me. Due to the size modifications I've made I'm making a whole new size chart. Sit tight, if you've emailed me I will send the details soon!

incase we have not noted before will the waist stripes be angled more?

they look to be too straight across especially the X2, and the length looks almost perfect i had said before it appeared to be too long, but seeing it on a person (who seems to fit it :p) it doesnt look long at all.

that leather does look like it will wear (weather) nice too, you can see the tones coming out in it.

i should kick you for not having made these before i got my wested!

h8 - Actually David's waist stripe angle is how it should be on the X2... only the X1 stripe slants downward towards the front to end at the bottom of the jacket.
Should be easy enough to sell your Wested to go towards one one these... :p

Re: Wolverine Stree Jacket X1 and X2 DONE!

is the company you are using in italy a well know company?
or just one that you happened to find?

have you used them before? do they have a label or brand name?

Just a little history...
I lived in Italy for almost 8 years, and worked in the garment industry all that time. I was involved in everything from designing, prototyping and producing....and produced an upwards of 150,000 garments a year. All this was done in family run companies and factories, and even though I've since moved on to costume making...I still work the exact same way I did back then and with the same great people. We were a great team while making high end outerwear in the 90's, and we're an even better team now with replicas. Many people have heard me say this over and over again....a jacket may just be a garment... but a replica jacket is something else...it's more than just 2 sleeves and a torso. This thread proves that with all the discussions we've had on fit and look alone...the details are a piece of cake but they all fall apart if the general look that's being replicated isnt there to support it.
As much as I enjoyed this while in Italy...I get much more satisfaction out of it now. Costume making is something that I was doing before I moved to Italy and continued while I was there too....once I came to terms with wanting to do 'this' for a living, I moved back to Toronto and made it happen. While many questioned my decision to 'blindly' jump into this world...It's now a nice feeling 6 years later to know they've all had a change of heart. :).
I approach my garment replicas as if they were sculpted forms. They have to be more than just paper patterns and zippers...otherwise they just fall short and are nothing more than cool looking clothing.

Re: Wolverine Stree Jacket X1 and X2 DONE!

Hey David, I know we already touched on this, but I've been looking at shots and blowing up pics a bit for this FILMJACKET site and believe that the piping in waist stripe on the X2 is reaally more pointed finish in the movie version instead of rounded we though it might be from the lower res Bates pics...
Here's a good example of what I mean...

Re: Wolverine Stree Jacket X1 and X2 DONE!

I know this project is at a stand-still right now until the leather is finished and the garments are made, but I just wanted to say that I'd love to see pics of everyone with their finished jackets. That way I can live vicariously through those that were able to afford these fine garments. :D Post pics!

Thanks in advance,

-Chris

Re: Wolverine Stree Jacket X1 and X2 DONE!

The jackets just arrived and we're going through them as we speak.
They are ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!!!

We'll be shipping them out once we double check all the sizes so I expect that to be a reality by weeks end at the latest.
We have a lot of them, plenty of extras so I'll update the J/Y thread once we're ready with sizes and quantities for those interested.

Once we get through them all we'll post some pics. We took all critiques, suggestions and reference materials available to bring these to life and it's crazy to see how different they now are just by these new form fitting proportions they've got.

Thanks to all who believed in us for this project, and we'll be looking forward to seeing you post your pics too!
