Wolverine all day baby! Jackets, belts, claws, oh my.

Do you have any other better images of the screen used jacket you are referencing, or are you going by what you remember from something else?

The jacket over at film jackets and posted above. Its has the material on the underside like im mentioning. lol you can even see the extra leather in the right sleeve in the photos above.

Yeah most finished cuffs that I've seen are made that way, with about an inch or so leather stitched on the inside cuff. The X2 is an odd case, as the extra seems to fall short of that, but that may be due to the gusset design from Bates.

Anyways...where the hell is everyone at?? Jorge wanted all the regulars here to review his prototype. :)

I would echo Superdrool in that the back seems a bit off, the placement of the seams being slightly wide.
It is nice to see the metal zipper base though, I know that the plastic/nylon base on the later Vansons is supposed to be tough as nails and in truth I haven't had any trouble with mine, but it is good to see the metal. I hope Jorge keeps that in the final jacket.

Oh he'll nail it. With our OCD and his dedication, he'll have it 100% accurate. ;)

ILF, He will. That's the easy part. He already knows to stick with 100% metal. I just wish I knew why Vanson decided to go with a plastic zipper base/box. It baffles me when YKK makes plenty of all metal...

:lol I do as well. We have to iron out all the kinks in vinyl first. It's a bit of a slow process. Hence why it took me 4 months to create the X2 with Jorge. ;)

Yeah...living in Cali I can see that. Leather isn't really the material one would wear unless it was chilly or you rode. I believe the hide will be a good compromise from the old X1 leather and thicker X2 hide. So it should work out well.

Did you break your jacket in yet? As in take a shower with it on, or wear it constantly to soften it up?

My x-2 has had the crap beat out of it.. Its very comfortable now and it looks pretty damn good. It just gets heavy on my neck after a few hours. I'll upload pics of it in a a couple days. As far as the correct hide i really do think the thin stuff Heron is using is the correct thickness. Any thicker and i think it will loose that "loose" look. . The thin X-1 will be a welcomed change.

Has anyone done research on the length of the chain of the Dog tag? I played it safe when I had the tags made up and went with standard military lengths. I figured if anything, it would be too long and it is not hard to cut them down if needed.

I was looking at this image: Connections, Logan/Wolverine's dogtags fanlisting

The small chain appears to be about 20 balls long (heh... balls) give or take a ball. My small chain is about 30 balls long give or take a ball (assuming the ball diameter is the same).

If we can pin down that length, we can figure out the long chain based where it hangs on his shirt using the closest button for ref (best if we know around what size shirt that is too).

I'm not a fan of the hide personally. I think Heron could improve on the accuracy. Like I said, I have an X1 that was given to me, and I like the hide as it resembles the hide visually, but it's durability over time as a fashion hide is what I question. When you have such a thin hide the seams can easily be compromised. I don't want to see that happen, especially with those that may be rough with their jackets. The last thing a company wants is complaints about the jacket falling apart because the hide wasn't able to take day to day abuse and last longer than a year.

But if you feel the hide is too thick, they can always make your's with the fashion hide. ;)

I hope you see where I'm coming from here. I'm trying to balance both sides of accuracy and quality.

I understand totally. But for me As long as the stitching is good and the pattern is accurate i don't see a problem. I know my X-2 will last forever lol its almost unnecessary having it as thick as it is for just wearing it around casually and to conventions.

The ebay jacket just felt and looked right when i wore it not to mention it was very comfortable. The screen used jacket isn't in horrible shape and they beat the living crap out of it! That being said i have faith that a thin jacket will still be super nice and will last just as long as any other jacket.

Tony do you really believe the screen used jacket is thicker than the hide uses for the Heron ebay jackets?

I do believe it's slightly thicker than the fashion leather, or at least a different type of hide that's denser. Not by much though, as the screen used leather was broken in to hell and was loose, but by no means was it the same type of hide. Have you taken a close look at the screen stills of Hugh wearing the jacket? It looks like it'd fall apart at any moment. The inside of the collar was separating, the torn stripe seem to have literally been ripped and man-handled right out of the seam. And all the deep gouges in the stripes lead me to believe they did whatever they could to tear up the jackets.

From Jorge:

"...the leather is like the X-2 not too thick just a little bit more thin."

I would agree with you that the screen worn jackets are a summer weighted leather. And that's what it should be. I just don't agree with the past/current hide being used.

I got my red-sleeved X-1 from Dan today. I love it. Unlike last time, this one is pristine. I look forward to beating the hell out of it.

Too bad it was quite hot today. It didn't stop me from wearing it, though.

Wow. I'm glad to see more the "prototype" designed jackets getting love. Looks awesome on you, as did the X2. Your collection from Dan is growing, sir. :)

Is that cow or horse hide?

It's horse.

I ordered the prototype back at NY Comic Con. I saw it there, and fell in love with it. I suspect I'll probably get the X-0 and the X-3 at some point. I'm not sure which one I'll get first, but right now I can't afford either. I have a feeling that if Dan is at NY Comic Con again this year, I won't be able to leave without ordering at least one of them.
