Wolverine all day baby! Jackets, belts, claws, oh my.

Beautiful jacket, Bat. Sounds like you're enjoying it already.

The pictures in this threat are amazing. I spend way more time than I should looking at them. How long until we get a look at the jacket in the next Wolverine movie? It's just going to be another jacket to buy, isn't it? Better start saving now. :lol

i am looking for someone who can make me some fine looking claws out of steel or aluminum.
or somewhere that i can pick some up?

If you guys haven't looked into Drool's X2/X3 watchbands. I suggest you do. I just got mine within 2 days of payment and the thing is ****ing awesome. It's like sex on your wrist and the leather smells fantastic.

I am going to second this statement, The Watchband is amazing and the Belt I got is just as good! Here is a pic of both. I need to get a watch for the band. Tony is amazing!

I had to snip the end of the band a little bit because there was too much excess hanging off when I put it on. Now it's perfect.

Yeah, I snipped off a little too to accomidate it after this pic was taken. As far as buying a jacket and getting the pattern off it, its a double edged sword. If I own somethign I can do with it as I please BUT I think it differs with taking it to a competitor and having them replicate it. I am not going to say I have never done it, I have a Lucasfilm licensed Darth Maul costume and I have used it to make patterns.

As you are entitled to it, Pat. Now you're making me feel guilty. I just thought it'd be good to give an X3 out that's not in the 900 dollar range.

Buying a jacket does not give one the right to peddle it's pattern. That's just my opinion, of course.

It is very minor, and all three jackets being shown lately do have minor differences, and like I said BATS Heron's X2 is the best bang for the buck...they have done a great job and frankly is up there with the best of them, certainly blows the past offerings of this jacket style out of the water.
But the angle is off, the top end of the pocket just needs to be moved toward center 0.5" and they'll have the angle nailed.
I know my eyes aren't playing tricks. :)

P - Yes, the X2 is the hardest to work with due to the piping... but keeping all four stitch lines equidistant apart on the shoulder of an Origins is no easy task either and neither is the crazy cuff construction. Amazingly putting that Origins cuff together was quite the feat for a production jacket.

Having all three versions side by side like this you can see all the inconsisitancies. But for Heron's jacket, yes the burgundy triangle on the sleeve is too short, by about an inch and a half. The hugest error I noticed was on the bottom. All the way around, not just the back, it was short, by about half to 3/4 of an inch. I'm assuming this changed when Jorge was proposing the back length with us using photoshop.

Jorge, any thoughts on this?

Stuff happens. We don't always see every angle either. It's just a sticking point of mine - having worked with "artists" in various capacities.

On another vein - my X1 in horsehide arrived. I'm AMAZED at how light it is! Pics coming...

Has anyone had any luck getting a watch on the band? The watch I had was too small so i got the same one Drool has but it won't go on. It's like the thickness of the leather is too much. I've been working on it for a couple hours now and no progress.

I have had a Milos OLF X3 in hand for quite a long time as many folks know, it was nice to have and compare to my pattern to show how close they were, and I could have easily just said, "here copy this" to change up my pattern to match even the nuances you don't see on screen, but this was not how I do things and I continued with my pattern in the way I saw things on screen... by all intents us replica makers are trying to copy an original from what is seen in the movie anyway, but it seems to almost cross a line without some sort of consent when you are just looking to copy one in hand. There is a lot of gray area here however and the law is clear that a wearable garment is not a copywriteable design, just logos used on said garment, but I don't know that anyone copying a jacket should feel guilty...I just know I have a certain feeling about original artist's work and have some certain personal lines of my own that don't get crossed without specific checkmarks down my imaginary checklist.

Had a similar talk with Tony Nowak over the phone when going over details of ordering a Raiders jacket. He said, "now you aren't gonna just get my jacket to copy it are you?" because I was up front about who I was from the beginning, and I said, "Tony, if I was gonna copy your copy of the original Raiders, I would've just put in a standard order when you first started making them for the public and copied it then." It took a while after his passing and talks with many folks before deciding which Indy jacket I would take on first in the end, and how I would go about doing it.
Same with the Bates X2... although it is based on the original jacket designed by Vanson for FOX based on their drawings, it was done in the Bates way, and I have been offered a couple of times the opportunity to copy a Bates only to turn it down to go my own route.
The Dark Knight jacket that Belstaff makes is a copy of the original Brutale jacket already and their public offering isn't exact to the film, but I still got a back door word of mouth "OK" from a key Belstaff person about going forward with my replica of the jacket how it appears on-screen. I probably would have went forward anyway since the "copy of a copy" checkbox was already marked for me, but the "OK" from someone at the owner-ish level definitely settled it for me moreso.

When it comes down to it though, if a person has bought a publicly available jacket it becomes their property, and they do have every right to send it to someone to have duplicated...no ifs, ands, or butts around that one.

PM me and I can guide you on how to add the watch, if it's the standard men's size watch. If it's the massive diver watches, the band will not accomodate it.

Well said Dan. A gentleman and scholar for sure.

Its a grey area for sure, but different people do different things. For example, if someone wants an original OLF X3 it will still always be available to them. And for some, having a jacket (or anything for that matter) from the original manufacturer will always be the most important thing to them. Me personally, I'm not a huge fan of the X3. But lately it's started to grow on me and if Heron offered one at the same price I paid for my X2 that I knew was pretty close to an OLF I'd be tempted. But I'd always know that it was a replica and not an original reproduction from the manufacturer and aslo, not identical to an OLF, but that's fine by me.

I just don't think any reproduction is really a challenge to the original (even if a pattern is taken off an original). It's simply an alternative.

What does an OLF X3 go for new anyway?

It's 850 dollars.

I've held an OLF in hand, and it's worth every penny as an accurate fashion piece, but not anywhere as tough as a Vanson. The jacket is heavy, soft and has slight padding in the elbow and shoulder areas. The leather quality is quite unique as it's distressed and has light/dark pattern I've not seen on any other jacket. The only hide I could compare the look to is the hide Wested used on my X1 jacket.
