AM

been busy missing this tread but dude looks awsome..cant wait to see the first pull you get,,thats always my favorate part after the worrie of molding is to get th first pull out safe:)

Great job lee!

Pete

Thx Guys,

Yeah Mr Wang was kind enough to contact me and say some nice things. kinda embarressed as its only a hobby, but at the same time totally awestruck he took te time to do it.

Im half way through molding wolf, just giving my knees a rest before i go and do the other half of mold.

totally agree Pete, im scared shitless about molding him, i left under his mandibles concave to hopefully allow more movement, and it was a ******* gettin the plaster in there. hopefully the time ive spent so far will produce a mask im proud of , and i dont just have pictures of the sculpt hehe.

I know exactly how you feel. I was going to start moulding my P1 but have ended up on the PC looking at other folks work.

Your history so far dictates you won't have any problems. Looks as though Wolf is going to be even better than your P1. Great to see other folk go through the same torments as me. Best cure is to keep a finished piece close by you're proud of, and remember the problems you overcame previously. Look forward to seeing the Wolf complete. Beautiful work my man.

Wow bud, praise from the master! i'm jealous! :D
I'm sure it'll come out fine, moulding is my least favourite part of the whole process

Dont think i got enough plaster to do other half so rather than do it too thin and **** it up , ive orderd more plaster and im waiting.

you have no idea how hard a mental struggle it was for me to order more plaster, i sooooooooooooo want this completed, it was a real battle, but i think thankfully my head won over my heart this time.

Moulding isn't my favorite part of making pieces either.
I hate casting big pieces!!!
I won't wish you luck Lee,...you have great skill!!
Praise from Mr Wang, very impressive

It will be worth the wait Lee. That is an amazing sculpt. There is a lot of talent in the Lair, but that definetly puts you near the top. Keep up the great work.

Lee if anything take TAKE a ****-ton of pics!! That way if you do **** it up you will atleast have an album of pictures to help re-create the piece if you choose to do so.

Don't look at molding like "Oh good... now how can I screw this up?" With that attitude your bound to ass it up some how. Look at it like a positive challenge. "Hey, how can I do this and show all my internet buddies just how cool I am?" You've come this far, and made progress at ridiculous speed. Come on dude, give yourself some credit.

;)

Well i think im always going to be nervous about mold making, i know i should be more " Glass is half full " hehe.

Im happy with the pics i have, and being realistic theres no reason why i should have screwed this up as ive done it 3 times now. so, in theory im getting better at it lol.

Also ive been alittle sneaky, my plaster actually arrived on wednesday, and i molded the back half then. ;) yesterday i split it and for the 1st time ever all my location holes look perfect ( always had one break before )
At present i have about 60% clay out of the mold, and apart from 2 dred ring holes that need alittle bit of filling ( easy peasey and expected as they are the side ones )the rest down to his eyes looks good, under the chin/mandibles is where i expect there to be issues , if there is goin to be any.

AGAIN i made the mold too thick. ( better than too thin though eh hehe )

Im still on nights but really hope to get the remaining clay out over the next 2 days,( its down to the filddly bits now) then i can pour the 1st mask monday or tuesday.

ill post a pic of this stupidy thick mold when ive cleaned it out hehe.

thanks again, soon the Wolf journey will be over. Wonder what i should try next hmmmmmmm ;)

Sounds as though everything is going to plan. I would be interested in seeing pictures of the moulding, especially around the mandibles.
Work really gets in the way doesn't it. There really should be a law against it!

A bio ha, your the bio man

maybe do the one i was thinking of oneday, but for now i cannot see any further than P1 and wolf hehe.

FINALLY got all the clay out ( finished about 5 mins ago ) As expected there a few bubbles/holes under the chin area, none on the detailed area that i can see PHEEEW
Also i see a few tiny tiny little teeny weeny bubbles, im talking the size of a ball point on a pen, should i fill these? or am i being too picky?

Ill repair the holes tomorrow then chuck in a thin cleaning pull , only the front of the mask though, hopefully that will prove to myself i havent made any major boo boos.

then on tueeeeeeeeeesday i think ill pour the 1st pull of mr wolf, Uk weather will then dictate how long it is before i can demold the mask.

then itll be onto my favorite part .

PAINTING

Ill post pics of mold and 1st pull over the next week or so.
