Glad to help mate

I'm sure those tools will give you new methods with your sculpting and turn out some great stuff.

sorry to hear about your move to Oz mate :D

With the excellent Mr Mander sculpt now out in the open COUGH*sneakygit*COUGH, its now my aim to do something half as good as his

today i got 2 of the 3 tool sets i orderd so i jumped straight in trying to do skin detail/texture, no idea if im doing it right or if it looks ok tbh, which is why im posting here for feedback AGAIN.

1st pic is just cos i did alittle bit on the damaged side again ( but not much ) and id alterd the shape alittle more.

other 2 pics are to show the neck area and the right cheak, just need to add quill holes after i get a look im satisfied with, taking me ages tryin to get the effect i want lol.

but thats part of the fun i suppose when i do get the look right ill be happy hehe.

anyway i havent shown the previous effort as it was eerrrrr. . . . . poo !

looking great lee,,i wish now I would have done the neck ring separate ah well..but your details are looking great i dont know why you need my help,,im still willing,,but your doing a great job. not shure where I can help at this moment.

Except I know you will most likeky mold the rest of the lower mandable separete because of the Oil clay I dont think you would ever get the clay out if you did a one piece mold of the front half, like how I molded it in one part,,But water clay will desolve.

So when you sculpt the lower part, Use a fishing line to cut the bottom manadble off , put it in the fridge to harden the clay, then add your clay for molding,,the cold will help to harden the oil bace so Your not messing up any details while doing the molds walls.

I have a seperate sculpt nearly done on the neckring :p

Pete your help, and everyone elses help is needed, pleeeeeeeeease help lol, im just winging this as i go.

Cool ( no pun intended ) :p

always handy to try pick up these bits of info, tryin to turn my brain into a sponge and soak up all the info.

but like homer simpson, everytime i learn summin new, it pushes summin old out :D

No need to be afraid of posting stuff on htere mate, they can be a bit brutal when critiqing stuff but not in a way to bash but to help you get better...Mind you I've not posted a thing on therer for ages...Not because I don't want to but sometimes you get locked into NDA agreements with clients and you can't post sod all.

Anyways your skin texturing looks great, forget the scar tissue for now and concentrate what your doing now...Pete's right about doing this as a three maybe even four piece mold....I'd look at making your parting lines along the underside of the lower mandibles

hell no, i aint brave enough to post there yet, ill stick with Predaholics for now hehe :p

No that foum is not like that , everyone learns from everyone else. im shure you would have people asking you how you did what you have so far..as I do the same asking others questions on that forum too. just have a poke around and look at the other creature designs or tutorials on texturing..it will help Your see alot of simular sculpting even in zombie sculpts...LOL

OK ive posted on the effects lab, ( your fault Mav and Pete ) as this skin texture thing is really doing my head in, again im comfy i can do the burnt side, its just his normal wrinkles that make me wanna stab him.

im gonna go all PYSCHO on his ass if i dont get it too work soon :p

id imagine this would be alot easier in waterbased clay, but i dont have time to work in this a great deal, so chavant medium was the only option.

looking great man, the details are really comming out now.......remember,

"breath in.....breath out........san da flaor, pain da fence.....wax on, wax off " lol

At least hold-off on going Nutz till this is done.. For real, I think your doing a fantastic job and can't wait to see the end result. I admire talent like this, I couldn't make a rock if I tried.

lol @wax on wax off.

About to order myself a BUTANE torch, ( as i cannot seem to find a alcohol torch in the UK ) to soften up the lines, i figure this way i can attack the lines more vigorously knowing i can melt them back.

giving this another break now until i get the torch, but on a plus side that means i can hopefully finish my upper body paint up for my P1 :p

Don't attack them mate, just waft the torch flame over the clay to smooth the skin textures out...I'd seriuosly look at getting the Sculpting DVD's that I mentioned on the effects lab they really did help me a great deal even after I'd been sculpting a couple of years. They may cost a bit but they most definietly worth as were Neil Gorton's dvd's. Sound investments mate.
