WIP Sculpt Doctor Doom Movie Mask

Cant seem to find my original thread about this si heres a new one. Worked more on the sculpt today, im sick of it sitting there not done, lol. Getting closer...just smoothing out stuff and adding the little details then working on the back some more.

That is coming along nicely.

 

Did some more smoothing, worked on the ears, refined the lips and sides a bit and added the rivets. Basically just need to finish off the left side and do the rest of the back and smooth everything out more. Im thinking im going to have to do more smoothing on this again once i have a hard copy, but that may be hard with the rivets in the way that i dont wanna sand off.

 

Did some more smoothing today and face detailing. Im thinking the whole mouth inside the lips may just be a separate piece instead of trying to trim around the weird shapes in there for the mesh, just cut the whole thing out and insert a sculpted piece. Hopefully Ill have an UltraCal mold off this in no longer than 2 weeks.

 

Yeppers...you're getting pretty good results so far.

another project i need * kicking in to get finished, this sculpt has been sitting on my counter for months... working on a bunch of things right now, but i havent forgot about this one, sooooon.

 

A few small updates, refined the mouth some, got the other ear and back almost done and thickened the nose up some and refined the shapes, so close to getting done, just about to order the ultracal

 

Looking good. While I thought the movie was crap, that doesn't make the mask any less cool. Keep it up.

 

I redid the back some more, added a small flare off the back piece after noticing it, cleaned up the eyes and few small face details again and replaced the rivets with small metal balls for consistancy, so I think im pretty much done. Gonna just touch up a few more things and then probably get started molding this thing in plaster before the 4th, then smoothing sanding begins. (i cant smooth clay for crap )

 

Well, now I'm a registered user here I can tell you how much I love the details you are putting into this piece.
Wonderful job man.

got the mold done and it came off nice and clean, so thats overwith, i was sick of that thing being clay Should get a hardcopy from the mold in the next few days, just need a few supplies.

uhhh...regular? I really dont remember, got it years ago, and i have no clue how many pounds, im horrible with weights.... i bought way more than i needed when i got it

 

well ive got the prototype from the ultracal mold done, but im somewhat embarassed to show it off until I get some time to clean it up a bit first, it wasnt exactly the cleanest mold seamline in the world, and a few spots need the ultracal chipped out, must not have waxed good enough. Updates later

 

Alrighty...still havent had the time to start cleaning it up much yet as you can see, but I got the big extra chunks off finally and trimmed out the eyes and mouth. Cant wait to start smoothing this thing out...its so nice to finally be able to hold this thing as a mask, not a sculpt. ...and again, i really need a new camera ><

yeah im moving next week so I want to get a bunch of things done and make the mess here before I have to move to a nice clean new place downstairs

just a little bump, seems theres interest in tis again. Hopefully in the next few months I can get the prototype cleaned up and start taking preorders so I can mold the helmet.

 

A classic Dr Doom mask is one of many items on my to do list.

Time is so scarce these days though.
