WIP Lukes Hero macros Done..ish

Re: WIP Lukes Hero macros

I'm assuming looking at it that you don't have any movement on the large knob. I think I'd like to have it so that I can turn it but not sure quite how to go about that, though your pictures have got me thinking :)

Re: WIP Lukes Hero macros

Well, i have finished as much as i can on these until i get electronics. The macros themselves are pretty much done. Been a long venture but i am very happy with how they turned out. I am not sure what they used for the wedge thing so i just made something out of sheet aluminum. I'll post the rest of the build pics later. I still need to do the mystery side box too.....and i did not paint the nubs on the lens. I need to mold the 2 i have to cast more for the other lens.

Re: WIP Lukes Hero macros

Seeing the last pic with all of them together is priceless! What did you use for the additional box attached on the transition box? Is that the sheet aluminum?

Re: WIP Lukes Hero macros

Those are absolutely wicked. I wish you'd weather the transition box though. I think your stunt version has the edge there. But got to say totally inspirational.

Re: WIP Lukes Hero macros

jun, yes that sidebox i bent from .032 aluminum sheet. I put some Vader helmet mesh on the end of it.

Marv thanks, yes i will weather the box a little but to be honest i can only see a little bit of silver on the very edges of the box. Other than that i have no other reference for weathering marks. I am trying to only add marks i can see in a picture or screenshot. The stunts i went a little bit more because the real ones had alot of little nicks. But only after i went and added most of the screen seen markings. These heros are much cleaner although the lens plate did have quite a few markings. I tried not to go overboard though.

Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let me say that I really appreciate how much effort you put into my Macros. I'm really happy with how they turned out.

Please make sure to send them insured and signature required. Don't want those sitting on the porch.

Thanks Glen

Once i got past drilling them painting was easy. I always planned on painting them. I can't see going through this much time, money and work and not going the whole way. Besides they just look wrong unpainted. It's not like i will ever part them out.

Re: WIP Lukes Hero macros

The thing that is confusing me is the mystery box on the side of the transistion box and why the heck am i the first to bring it up. There is a wedge of some sort attached to the side of the transition box with a knob on it. I am pretty sure the knob is just the light meter switch thingie cut down in height but i have not IDed the wedge itself. Hoping some of you with more SS doner kits and SScale model ID'ers can ID it.

Thank you! You're not the first to see it, I asked about that weird angle in dewback's build thread. I like the use of the light meter knob, I originally thought that was the black tab from the lens plate.

I think what you have accomplished is outstanding!! Well done sir!

i also noticed that you dont use lens knobs on the other lens...why ? there are pics showing the knobs on both lens' just curious

What leads you to believe that the hero had 2 sets of Kalimar knobs?

The ones on the box can be seen well in the hires photos going around , and the ones on the side can be seen in the garage scene. They are the only type of knob i have seen that stick way up and have the thin rod right under the knob part. Here are some crappy camera pics.

Trooper, i only have one lens with them. Someday i'll get silicone and cast the ones i have and make some for the other ones.
