Who is this "Sidkit" and why don't I own his Mal Reynolds pistol?

Or do I have to wait for some one other than me to plug a model I make, is that the rule??

Rich

As I see it, and you can feel free to correct me, Rich, but Siderio isn't a member here and isn't selling directly to this forum. His name and site only got brought up with a link to where people can go and purchase his wares. You, on the other end of the stick, are a member here and are directly pimping your merchandise in this setting.

Now, if you feel I'm wrong, and that Siderio is directly selling in this thread as a member of this forum, then as stated, please learn me sumptin'.

So if someone else wants to plug my model it is ok but not me as the maker??

Like of silly, after all I can just go and ask a couple of friends to do that can't I??

I think as long as I am not stepping on any toes it should be fair. I waited until the door was opened by others before jumping in.

Someone can plug your model all you wish. You can plug your model all you wish.

The difference (which my previous post made Austrian crystal clear) is that there's a big difference between, "Here's my nifty new prop, soon to sell!" and "Here's my nifty prop, only $49.99, here's my contact info!"

I'm assuming you've been here long enough to have common sense about this, but then again, I've learned never to assume where games will be played.

Man, this thread needs to get back on track. How about PICTURES!!

Unless the resin replica I got from Phil comes apart and has internals I don't know about, I think we're long past calling this one a recasteder prop.

I.. think I'm gonna have to try this one. On a real live Taurus.

Hey gun guys, you think like a thin sheet of stainless around the cylinder gap would keep cylinder flash from cutting into the body or blowing bits off? Did the original have any overpressure ports somewhere? Say down the magazine maybe?

GORAMMIT, I've been trying to resist getting a Mal pistol, but the more I see this, the more I want one.........in metal, with all it's shinyness and working bits and...... Oh, now I'm getting all flushed....:$

Cheers,

Kraig

Unless he got hold of one of the bronze ones... Maybe I'll dismantle mine and see if there are any internal similarities.

There's no denying that it's a bootleg of a bootleg but I think Phil's contact will be wary of letting Phil gain access to any other cool toys in future so ultimately the bootleg prop community loses out.

Unless the prop builder who bootlegged it to begin with sees it and thinks "Damn, thats a nice job."

Ahhhh, fair enough. I didn't know the bronze ones came apart. Keep us informed please.

The BRASS (sorry the bronze/brass thing I can't let go LOL) ones were built in all the same pieces as the real thing, only without a real gun as a base. All the shell pieces were cast individually (something Sidkit did differently).

Also, I would be interested to see if you can get your Model 47 diassembled b26354.

Yeah, I could have sworn he said the 47 was permanently assembled...so aside from making it harder for you to compare the internals, I like to think that Sidkit wouldn't have bought and (potentially) destroyed one of those beauties.

No not as clear as I would like it.

So I can plug a upcoming model in this Forum , but not one for sale myself?

But someone else can come in and say look at my new buy, it is a Coyle prop at $XXX.XX and you can reach him at...and that is OK??

I understand not to jump in on the first one, A "Look at MY new model soon to be offered" as that IS stepping on someone's toes, a fellow propmaker selling, but as this was a look at a non-member's work and my new Buy and show off thread and tell/sales pitch and people were talking about all kinds of other props I though because of all of that it was ok to blow my own horn.

I really felt I was being correct in doing so.

Rich,

I think all he is saying is you can tell about yours and then put in a link to a junkyard post with the sales information.

Got my SidKit Mal pistol today. All I can say is WOW!

The metal quality does not feel cheap in the slightest. This gun has a good heft to it right out of the box. Sidkit sent mine partially assembled (I assume for shipping reasons) so essentially, the receiver is put together and it has a great heft to it!. He even sent a spare safety lever. I can't wait to get cracking on this bad boy!

Oh, also, .38 caliber bullets fit in the magazine just fine :thumbsup
