QMx Mal Pistol Rumor?

This was brought up in a Junkyard thread and then never revisited.

I would wait for the QMX Mal pistol to be released.... Just saying

Is there any way to know when that will be released?

Before the end of this year............. I Hope
and remember...... Good things come to those that wait !!!!!

and I would wait..... Trust me !

What QMx Mal pistol?

They have their Serenity stunt for $160 and...
...that's all I've heard of.

I know the creator of the $900 dollar brass Model 47a is now working for QMx,
but one of his other products saw a 100% increase in price once it was officially licensed.
I would tend to expect a metal Mal pistol from QMx to be part of their artisan series
and carry a $1,500 to $2,000 dollar price tag.

Although I fully appreciate the work and material quality that went into the Model 47a,
$900 for a replica pistol was too rich for my blood.

So the question becomes what is your budget for a costume accessory?

I will also say, I can't see any scenario where a brass-plated Sidkit Mal is ever worth less than $300!

So I still find myself wondering if there is news of a new QMx Mal pistol.
The only rumblings I remember are from
www.fireflyprops.net
when a resin version cast from the Model 47a masters was being discussed.

So...what's the scoop?

Karl is working with QMx. From what he's said while the 47a run was still going on the QMx pistol will be an all new pistol and will not re-use the 47a molds. My guess is the Mal holster rigs are taking precedent atm. Dunno what the status is on those or the Jayne wrist bands, I preordered the Mal rig back in August and still haven't heard anything.

I'm sure you're right.
I was thinking of the Model 47b that was planned.

Regardless, I was just curious as to whether a QMx metal Mal replica had actually been announced, let alone being on a timetable for release.

There was a prototype on display at the QMx booth at Comic-Con.
You can see a couple of pictures of it on ArtAndrews Flickr page: QMx - a set on Flickr

Thanks for the info, tho' I'm inclined to call "bogus" on the prototype label.
That looks like a Model 47 with Badger's oak grips on it.
The shrouds appear to be individual rather than combined as on the 47a.
I guess I'd be surprised if Badger would choose to improve the 47a by combining shroud castings,
then go back to the individual pieces for an official, artisan release.
Maybe for screen-used accuracy...

To the point of the original Junkyard posting,
where TK648 suggested to deathscythe to wait for the QMx pistol for costuming,
the QMx pistol certainly looks like it will be an artisan release.
It will take a brave soul to risk wearing off the finish and/or damaging a thousand-plus-dollar collectible in costume holster.
Kurtyboy has a phillipes resin Mal in the junkyard right now,
to my mind a better choice for costuming.

Either way, I guess it's inappropriate for me to comment further,
since the likely price point makes any official release out of my ability to purchase.
That is why I'll always be happy with my Sidkit Mal pistol;
I could build it and I could afford it.

I was just curious if there really was an official release on the horizon,
but based on the one pictured, I'm not really any more sure there is.
