Re: What's on your workbench?

This is a Stargate section I'm working on. the wings are giving me a lot of problems, I made them from pink foam then brushed on four layers of resin. The problem is they are very thin and every time I fill and sand I put another dent in them:facepalm I think I will have to mould them then work on the solid resin ones and then remould again.

Unfortunately, right now there are 3 air-cooled Volkswagen engines on my workbench. I need to get two of them repaired before September, so I can work on my Halloween stuff for the amusement park I build for.

Re: What's on your workbench?

Decided to make a mold of my DP 95 Boba Fett helmet a while back. The shape wasn't all that bad, but I hate that vinyl material, I wanted something stronger.

Still filling and sanding, but it's coming along. I went ahead and turned it into an antenna-less helmet, I haven't decided if it's going to be a custom Mando or a non-animated style Death Watch / Pre Visla helmet. Got a fresh coat of gray primer on there so now I can see everything that has to be fixed.

I'm also working on a DF:II Kyle Katarn lightsaber. Made it from scratch from PVC, made a mold, and unfortunately only got 4 pulls from the mold since it was so problematic. The one in the photo is the pull I've gotten the most done on.

I've been away from my projects for too long, glad I've made some progress.

and yes I know, the same piece has also shown up in Torchwood and Doctor Who.

Currently trying to finish up my Avengers Loki stubby scepter. Once that is finished I can get back to sculpting the rest of his new helmet.

Re: What's on your workbench?

With being on a Mass Effect hype I'm working on my first prop the M8. Coming along nicely and it's more shaped.Need to add a few pieces here and there and add depth to the parts.

Edit - added some detail and depth.

I'm working on the wooden shield from Legend of Zelda Spirit Tracks. It's close to being finished. All that's needed now is some sanding and paint.

Re: What's on your workbench?

Working on more Skyrim props. This is the first pull from my Helm of Yngol mold.

Haven't buffed it yet, but the casting is done in cold cast aluminum powder. Horns are slush cast very thin and backfilled with expanding foam to keep the weight down.

Re: What's on your workbench?

Great stuff everyone! There's some awesome things on people's benches at the moment (not to mention some great benches too, I'd love a mini lathe...sigh), keep it up all :thumbsup

I'm finaly working on the masters for the first gen identity disc from Tron (it's been in the development phase for what felt like forever).

Original build assembly plan (there have been some changes made to the build plan since this render was done, and still have to get the back plate machined, but hopefully I'll have a prototype up and running in the next couple of months)

I've finished sanding the lens and it's just waiting for the disc to catch up

Just about to start on the 1500 grit for the underside of the disc, and already starting to look good at 1200

I'm sanding both up to 3000 grit to get them prepped for a buff n polish ready for moulding :thumbsup
