ha .."frangadakin" sore .. now thats one I hadnt heard before. Iys looking great though Jason ...talk about putting in that extra effort. Are you at least using sanding sponges to give your hands a little relief?
You stop at 200 grit? Damn, I'm polishing with 600 grit, hehehe. My mother-in-law, who creates minitures, swears by using a piece of a brown paper bag to really get it polished. I have yet to try it...
At any rate, they're both looking AWESOME! Quite stoked to see your paint-ups!
Thot you'd like the frangadakin George! Now you're right up there with Steve Carrell screaming "Aaaaahhh Kelly Clarkson!!!" and "Matt Damon"
I could keep smooting these Bios until they are glass, but I still like them to have some texture. It helps the primer adhere and gives it depth. Brown paper bag you say? That just sounds like a whole lot of work just to bring a sheen to the surface...craziness I tell ya!
Frangadakindiculous? Damn thats a long one! I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of using George's last name as a swear word or some sort of funky expletive!
Back to Scott's Elder head and removing the ****** primer that didn't adhere to the resin. So many tiny little crevices...I had to use dental tools to scrape off the primer.
Before scraping:
After scraping:
About 98% of the old primer is scraped off and ready for a new coat...again! I just have to wait until it gets warm enough in the garage again...
Someone asked me in chat why I havent painted anything in a while since I have a ton of stuff that is primed and ready to paint.
When I have a Bio or head that needs any filling, sanding or dremeling I typically want to get that out of the way first. I used to work on one project at a time and stick with it until it was done, but since I've aquired numerous raw heads and Bios that are piling up, I'm focusing on the clean up process first. I enjoy getting the dremel work and sanding done, but I enjoy painting even more so I save it for last. It's kinda like eating the cake part first and saving the icing for last I guess...
Stepping outside right now to finish messing with the ledge around the eye holes. Yay, more sanding, lol. Damn it, I want this thing painted, already...
Got lots of work done in the past few days. First off, I taped off the mandible area on Scott's P1:
Then I used some Apoxie as filler in the gaps:
Near perfect fit:
I had to remove all the foam filling from Scott's Elder head because it wouldn't dry and was completely water logged. I removed the foam and it was dry overnight. I primed that one and the P1 and the P1 Stunt Bio. Cool thing is that even at -15 outside I was still able to prime these and bring them inside to dry. Best primer ever!
When I used the wire brush to remove all the previous primer from the Elder's head, it actually gave the skin an even more wrinkled look which was cool:
